Hello and welcome to compositing in Nuke with Rubble Way
. My name is Nick Chamberlain, and I'll be
your instructor for this class. I've been working in
the V effects industry for the past 5.5 years,
and I'm currently working as a compositing supervisor and occasionally
as a Houdini Dynamics artist. I mostly work on
television shows that require fast and flexible work flows that
will still get you a great looking image. And
we'll be applying those concepts in these seven shots in
front of us here as we complete them from start
to finish. In this workshop, the shots will
exhibit many of the common problems you run across while
you're compositing. These aren't your easy one click key
tutorial shots thes exhibit very common real world problems.
There are two main goals of this course. The
first is pretty obvious. We're gonna learn how to
use Nuke. It's the industry standard compositing software,
and it's excellent at handling both creatively and technically challenging
shots. We're gonna be learning new from the ground
up, so no prior knowledge of nuke is required
at the start of this class. But knowing basic

the effects terminology will certainly be helpful. The second
goal is, in my opinion, much more important
, and that's learning how to think like a composite
. ER will be going over fundamental compositing theory throughout
the 1st 4 weeks that could be followed to make
any shot look more realistic. Nukus An amazing program
. But if we only know what the buttons are
, instead of why we're using them, we're gonna
run into issues very quickly. Once we have these
fundamentals down in the last four weeks, we're gonna
move on to compositing fully CG shots that involve a
lot of effects dynamics elements. These shots will exhibit
much more complicated issues in our compositing approach, and
execution will be sure to build these calms in the
most flexible way possible in order to get a great
looking image quickly. I'm very excited to get started
, and I hope you'll be able to walk away
from this workshop with a firm grasp of nuke and
understand how to think like a composite. Er,
thank you very much for listening and I'll catch you
