oh hello everyone and welcome to episode 48 of the 10 minute modeling challenge i hope you're having fun making 3d models or doing games or whatever it is that you do and last week i did that 10 minute car and i was really happy about that one i ended up modeling myself another three cars so i just made some imaginary sports looking type of cars and after i modeled those cars i made a little simple interior for them and i also made it so you could open the doors open and close and then also the trunk and then i brought them into unity because i'm learning the new rigging

pretty good now that seems so that's a problem fixed bonus tip number one alright guys this is infensia from the editing room and uh as i was editing this video and i don't know i didn't see it while i was recording it but you can see this shadow on the tail is really playing up it's especially noticeable when you rotate the camera like this you see there's a really annoying shadow shape here and it turns out that when i merged these or at least i thought i merged them just now in the video it didn't actually merge them properly if i do alt z then you can see that there is still duplicate vertices here

so we can try to do this merge again and make sure that the settings are correct usually if it's such a small thing you can actually select a whole bunch of vertices like this and we'll try this again now we'll do m to merge by distance and it says it didn't remove any but we if we slide this one up just a little bit that's all that was needed that it actually removed that vertex there and we're all good all the way around there so we can alt set to get out of okay so we fixed that part but the shadow is still there so we had to find

the cause and i think there's a vertex in here this one looks really dodgy and this one has actually accidentally merged itself to the center as well if we go to old set pick this vertex here you see that's all the way into the center and this is creating a broken face here so to fix this one if i do alt set again i can't move it out because clipping is enabled so if i click on clipping here then we can move this in and that annoying shadow disappears we can enable clipping again

g to move it down and that fixed that one again apologies for this shadow that you'll be seeing all the time at least you know what's caused by and try to fix those things because if there is a shadow that shoots off like this then there's something that's wrong with your mesh usually all right let's get back to the video and try to ignore that shadow okay the second thing we need to do is i'm going to redo this main thing because this turned out to be an absolute disaster and i'm going to be disowned by my own tortures so let's fix that before they see me before they wake up

if i click l here usually that's what i do to select all the linked vertices but this time we can click this little expander thing down here and then go to uvs instead now when you click on l it'll select whatever uv is shared and since i've moved these onto the pinky color here it's just gonna selling select the those ones and i'll do three to go into this little face select and delete and faces and let's try to redo this from scratch now so i've got mirror modifier on here i'll do make sure i'm in edit mode

tab there's multiple ways you could do this maybe i'll just select down to there e to extrude it right click to snap it back and then i'll just slide it along this x-axis now and that links it up and we've got the clipping on here so it welds it really nicely into the seam here so that was tip number two or something the next step here is to enable auto merge vertices and then change up here to snapping to vertex now if i press g to move it and i hold the ctrl key it'll snap onto that vertex and not only

that it actually merged it into one vertex to begin with so now that issue is fixed we could refine this a little bit i've got mirror modifier on here so we should be safe so i'll do shift select these press f to fill that little gap okay and g to move that on let's refine this a little bit g to move that okay we should try again now to do this little main thing maybe here we can take this opportunity as well slide that one out slide that one out

there you go looks a little bit better okay now let's redo the main so i'll do should we try maybe i'll just do two there then we'll do e to extrude side view so all test scale sets i think it's according to normals and then s to scale it scales it depending on so i've set it to median i think oh no individual origin so we scaled all of them individually and that brought them out pretty nicely but then i want to bring it in so i'll just slide them in on the x axis there maybe g to move it up

or to rotate g and then we can start bringing these down maybe over proportional again i'll do alt o to make sure it's got this little hollow thing here so connected only and then use the scroll wheel down bring it to there g scroll wheel down that's it and now we could probably move this forward g and g on that one rotate s to scale that one down you need to move it

and now let's try to extrude these what it failed last time so alt extrude individual faces period make sure i've got individual origins now s to scale them and then bring them in to there so that looks a bit excessive still but better than it did before anyway i think okay if i do control plus now we can grow the selection down to there and then bring this back onto pink
