What do you remember when you think of MSI, ShowMaker? Like, hmmm, how do I say this ... I’ve never said this anywhere before. This is the first time I'm saying this in public, but ... I went through a lot in Iceland. There were the in-game struggles, but also ... Hello~ Today, I have with me DWG KIA’s newest bot laner. Could you tell us how you’re feeling about your 2-0 victory today? We had some clean victories today, and continued in our win streak. I'm playing bot lane these days, and somehow, we are winning ... I’m having lots of fun playing like this. I try not to get tempted to force narratives yet it keeps coming, between you and this one player ... Because many fans are once again drawing a comparison between you and Perkz. There are parallels between your and his career moves. What's your thought on this, ShowMaker? It just sort of happened. I never saw myself playing bot lane. Perkz roleswapped to bot lane than later returned to the mid lane.
I’m hoping I will also return to the mid lane. Perkz once said this about the bot lane -- That (paraphrased) the role makes him tunnel-vision on the bot lane. Like, every CS you farm of miss makes a difference, which can be frustrating. However, as a mid laner, you’re able to assist and overlook all lanes. Perkz said this was something he perhaps missed about the mid lane. But hey, what's your opinion on this take? This is my first time playing bot after playing mid lane for years. I’m currently having a lot of fun. Even though, I think I’m going to miss the mid lane later on. I'm already feeling it a bit right now -- That the impact on the game you can have as a bot laner is just not the same as when you are a mid laner. But, for now, I'm having fun. I noticed this during this interview, as well as your press conference from two days ago. You continue to reiterate how much fun you've been having. How playing bot gave you butterflies in your stomach. I’m really curious as to how fun this role swap has been for you. Right now -- I’m having more fun playing ADC than mid.
When you do realize this? In which way? For me, getting new experiences as a player is very important. Not a lot of pros will experience a role swap in their career. It feels refreshing, right? And now that I'm a bot laner, I have to collect more data about the bot lane and the bot lane phase. I have my mid lane knowledge, but now I need to build knowledge of the bot lane. And there is fun in that, learning new things. And one thing is certain. Playing bot is harder than playing mid. There are two players in the bot lane, right? When I was playing mid, I only had to think about my own actions. However, now that I'm playing at bot lane, I have to communicate my train of thought to my support. That's difficult, right. Also, the relationship between bot and jungle ...
How do you say this... It's SO important to communicate with your jungler. When my jungle's at top and the enemy jungle is at bot -- Honestly, there's nothing I can do there. Now, when I was playing mid -- I could try to avoid the enemy jungle's gank. Or maybe try to make a 1v2 outplay. But from the perspective of a bot laner ... the jungler is just too OP! Winning 3v2 is, like, IMPOSSIBLE. I often feel helpless as a bot laner. But still. If you get fed as a bot laner, there's hype to that, too, right. You play bot lane for that hype. THIS IS NOT A BOT DIFF, IT'S A JUNGLE -- [A Korean copypasta] -- IT'S A JUNGLE DIFF! [A Korean copypasta] Still, nothing on Malrang, he's been exceptional. Hey, ShowMaker, this is a question I've been meaning to ask for a while. DWG KIA has already played its fourth game in the regular summer split. It’s been some time since you returned from MSI 2021.
What do you remember when you think of MSI, ShowMaker? I’ve never said this anywhere before. This is the first time I'm saying this anywhere, but ... I’ve never said this anywhere before. This is the first time I'm saying this in public, but ... There were the in-game struggles, but also ... I didn't get to manage my health. And this is partially on me, too, right. I actually have eczema. And Iceland was a very cold country. And it was also ... Dry. Yeah. My eczema got so bad, to the point where I couldn’t even sleep. Eczema is also linked to your stress levels. Eczema sucks, right. It's also linked to digestion. Oh really? I didn’t know that. So I was all the way over at Iceland, I couldn't sleep, I was having stomach aches ... And I don't do too well in cold climates. I even took a padded coat to Iceland, and that didn't make a difference.
We had outdoor content days during MSI, for teasers and stuff, and it was FREEZING! I know you had a padded coat! And still? We did have the coats, but we had to take them off when we were shooting content. I was freezing, man. I caught a cold at some point, and ... Still, I'm a player, I had to play League well. So I just pushed through and tried my best. But still, the end result wasn't good, right? We finished second place. That was regretful. I don't have good memories of the MSI, but it was an experience nonetheless. Because many people would have been worried about you, ShowMaker, when you said ... We recently had an LCK media day, and a journalist asked this question. "What have you taken away, and lost, at the MSI?" I’m not sure about what I have taken away from the MSI. But I lost a lot of things there. I want to know what you meant by that statement. At the time of the media event ... It wasn’t too long since the MSI, so my head was still full of negative thoughts.
You were stuck in quarantine, too. My head was just hazy, with frustration ... But when I try to look back at the MSI now. When I try to see it positively. It's not like the MSI is an easy tournament to make to in the first place. It was a good experience... Well, maybe not a “good” experience. But it was a unique experience. Any final resolutions, before we wrap the interview up? [Running out of time] I switched over to the bot lane role and was able to continue our winning streak. And Malrang was suddenly thrown into the starting roster. It could have been a lot of pressure for Malrang. However, he’s doing very well so please continue to show Malrang lots of support. We will also try our hardest to show you some exciting games. Thank you.
