another thing people sometimes ask me is well why
do i worry like what why is it that human beings
have learned to worry if it doesn't keep us safe
if it's not necessary to motivate us because it
only can motivate us to do things that we don't
want to do in the first place and most of the time
it's actually counterproductive why would human
beings evolve with that capacity and worry is just
a particular use of the mind it's an innocent
misuse of the creative potential of the mind
that same thing that lets you worry yourself sick
is what lets you invent things that
have never been invented before
that is what lets you daydream things that that
you've never thought about as possible for you
so it it it's the same as most things the problem
isn't that we have an amazing creative potential
it's that we innocently use it to create
worry and anxiety and and to upset ourselves
and when we start to see that the problem
isn't that we think it's that we don't see

our thoughts as thinking we see them as oh that
could really happen we see them as important
warnings about the future and when you start
to see that you realize thoughts not your enemy
you don't have to to kill off your brain you
don't have to stop yourself from thinking
you just have to recognize that from time to time
your your thoughts will spin a little bit out of
control and when they do you'll feel anxious but
when they settle again you'll be as good as new
and you'll be able to see clearly and you'll still
be able to use your creative mind when you need it
but you'll be less inclined and less
likely to use it against yourself
and more inclined to use it to create amazing new
possibilities in your world so the last thing that
i would say and i don't know whether this is going
to be comforting or annoying is if you're worried
don't worry about it worry comes and goes
it's made of thought and like all thought

like a cloud that looks solid but
an airplane can fly right through it
you can move forward you can live your life you
can do just fine when there's worry but you can
move forward and do just fine when you're not i
