in this video we're going to walk through your students simulator report when you click on the score it will open up your student similarity port that will look just like this you'll be able to see your student's paper in its entirety as well as any highlights and matches that have been found in your student submission in the bottom left you have the ability to zoom in and out of your student's paper you also have the ability to scroll through your student's paper with the scroll bar on the right over here on the far right is a list of all your students largest matches
00:37
you can scroll through these as well you'll notice that they are color coded and numbered with what you find here on the right at any time you can click on one of these links and it will give you a website that you can click on and jump straight to that website just remember you're leaving turnitin when you click on these websites we can't guarantee you what you'll see on the other side if you scroll down a little further you'll be able to see a smaller version of that article as well as your students match
01:08
within that article you can click on view full text and it will list the entire article for you again showing your students match within the context of that article you do have the ability to exclude a source as well if you're not interested in that source your students view of the similar report will be the exact same as yours they do not have the ability to exclude sources if you choose to exclude a source it will let you know that you do have an exclusion and when you exclude that source it will
01:39
bring up the next largest match for you in your list at any time to bring that exclusion back you can click on that and you can uncheck those boxes and your source will come back for you you also have the ability to change from the large match view by clicking on sources overview and choosing all sources when you click on all sources it's going to bring you every single match what's been found for your student submission all the way down to matches
02:11
that are even less than one percent again these are going to be numbered and color coded for you so when you do click on one it will bring you directly to that match in your student's paper you will find multiple matches for the same content because it's been used elsewhere in the internet or in possible submitted works to move back to the larger source view you can click on all sources again and click sources overview this time and it will take you back to your largest matches you also have the ability to click on
02:42
this little gear here and choose exclusions these exclusions are on a paper basis so if you chose to exclude the bibliography in quotes when creating your assignment that would have been at the assignment level any exclusions you choose here will affect only this student level on the paper level you can choose to exclude any matches that have been found from the internet you can if you uncheck it those will come back you can also choose to
03:13
exclude any submitted works from your index as well any exclusions you make depending on your settings these those changes may not be saved for you so the next time you open up your student's paper you will not see these exclusions you would have to exclude them again this is something chosen at the administration level and not something you can choose to save or not save but all you have to do is click that x
03:44
if it appears for you so that you can turn that off again you can choose to exclude the bibliography which means it will not check any content that follows the words bibliography references or works cited you can exclude quotes so if i was to exclude quotes you'll notice this quotation here it will not check any content that falls within quotation marks i can simply turn that back off by unchecking quotes you can exclude citations as well and
04:15
you can exclude small matches maybe you've decided that you don't want to see any matches that are 15 words or less you can choose that and it will take those off your list as well and to bring it back to the originally submitted work you can uncheck that and when we click done it'll take us back to our largest matches you also have the ability to click on this little question mark if you click on that you have some helpful items if you click on help it will take you to our guides page where you can choose specific entries
04:48
that will give you step-by-step instructions along with screenshots as well you can also choose to view the tour of the similarity report and if you click on that you can now move through the tour and the different steps available to you lastly you have the ability to view the paper id this is important if you need to create a tech support case or if your students need to create a tech support case they can find this paper id as well this id helps us find that paper
05:20
in our repositories much quicker so please always include the paper id if you need to create a tech support case if you find that you have a student submission that you need to remove from the index you'll need this paper id as well and to let your admin know lastly down here in the bottom left corner is this printer icon if you click on that it will give you a comprehensive document that includes the student submission date number of words and characters
05:52
