36:44
and then it actually tunes into the studio so tony can hear it if you guys want that app it's a couple bucks i think it's on the iphone or android you can get it at your app store but it's called my applause or the tony robbins experience download that and then you can contribute to the applause inside of this room all right i'm so excited to be back with you guys again today our welcome this morning is going to be super quick because we have a ton to cover today on day two tony got off stage last night he looked down at his watch and he's like oh my gosh i can't believe we went for four hours
37:16
i know i know right he over delivers every single time who got value out of yesterday by a show of hands let me just see right so he promised today is going to be about two to two and a half hours that's what you guys can expect we have a lot to do in a short amount of time so that means that we need three things we need focus energy and we must be in a finish my sentence please a peak stay oh my goodness wow we must be in a peak state all right how many of you completed your uh
37:48
challenge assignment from last night just by a show of hands amazing uh we loved seeing and hearing your 2021 visions when you guys do those challenges it's about going on a rant and feeling it inside of your bodies you did such an incredible job last night and we do want to take a moment to acknowledge those of you that completely stepped outside of your comfort zones to do that how many of you buy a show of hands were like do i make the video or not make the video i mean kk said no hiding but like i wouldn't normally do something like this should i do it should i not do it people are going to judge me am i going right
38:19
on the live on the right facebook group we have thoughts that ran and you overcame them and i know it sounds like something small like you went live on facebook but that's a huge victory and if you're hiding in a group like this is it possible that we show up with that same behavior in other areas of our life as well maybe we hide in our relationships and in our bodies and our finances it may be small but going live yesterday can completely transform the way that you engage in the rest of this challenge for the next four days and also the rest of your life it's
38:50
getting familiar with being uncomfortable that's what you're doing and that's where growth truly is so we are so excited for your 2021 visions congratulations on completing your first challenge last night and welcome to day two of the new world new you challenge everyone give it up for yourselves amazing we are going to announce the winners i told you guys hypothetically potentially possibly maybe perhaps
39:21
hypothetically speaking there could be some beautiful incredible prizes that we give away for amazing participation and that will be happening at the end of today's training can you guys wait two to two and a half hours when you're gonna train with the number one success coach on the planet can you stay put and be here to find out who is going to be victorious and win these absolutely amazing spectacular prizes if you can do that shake your body around and say yes we are all amazing amazing we are also
39:52
going to announce what your next challenge is remember every day we're going to give you these micro challenges to complete it's important because it's allowing you guys to get familiar with pushing past something that may be uncomfortable but there are also challenges created by tony to help this content like sink inside of yourselves now if you were someone that hid from yesterday's challenge i'm just going to talk directly to you i know you're out there if maybe you didn't do yesterday's challenge because you were a hider was that you be honest with
40:26
us just put it in the group come on can you guys love up and support one another yes or yes even the hiders in the group can you still love them yes or yes tell me this does your past have to equal your future no if you didn't complete the challenge yesterday for god knows what reason you're like i'm gonna watch everybody do it the first day then maybe i'll do it the second day or whatever thoughts went through your mind just because you didn't do it day one does that mean you have to give up the rest of the challenge and then never participate never show your face of course not all right if you got a
40:57
flat tire would you be like you know what i'm gonna jump out of the car and just slash all the rest of the tires as well while i'm at it would you ever do that no of course not that would be nonsense you would patch up the tire and you would move on if day one you did not go all in i'm speaking directly to your soul right now do you feel me this is your new opportunity it is a new day it is a new world and it is a new what it is a new what it's a new you so what's the new story that you are creating going on the trend
41:28
of yesterday's what's the new story about how you show up you have four more days to make this magic happen and we're gonna keep reminding you to play all out i'm gonna pull up a testimonial from someone that played all out at a challenge we did about seven months ago it's called the comeback challenge and if you were at that challenge that crazy amazing insane challenge i want you to make some noise right now put it in the chat box welcome back welcome back it's good to see you the gentleman that i'm going to bring up and show you his story it's a story of
42:00
someone that played full out when all they did was get nudged to do the challenge someone's like hey you should maybe do the challenge and how many of you got nudged and maybe you weren't sure if you should do it or not right this person got nudged yep and he decided to do this and actually it came how many industries got completely demolished and wiped out overnight this last year and that happened to this person's business he lost 90 of his work his name is marcus it disappeared overnight he was an actor and through this challenge he committed and he found a way for it to happen for
42:31
him and not to him so i want you to take a look at his testimonial and think about what can you apply to your life from his story take the distinction let's pull up marcus to the screen so i was and still am essentially an actor and so everything i did was with crowds and in front of people so when i remember when march 12th hit i lost everything except for one teaching job which moved virtual but i lost 90 of everything that i did
43:05
and it was devastating and then my beautiful gorgeous wife who has come to my rescue on more than one occasion nudged me gently into the comeback challenge and i was like okay i have time during this lockdown and i went in to the comeback challenge and life truly has never been the same because i learned even in the comeback challenge that life was happening
43:37
for me and i realized that the comeback challenge had happened for me and i realized that my number one going towards value was actually sorrow everywhere i looked i turned it into sorrow and misery and pull down and then it was a no brainer because guess what no brain you're in your head you're dead thank you tony it was a no-brainer that i would go to upw and upw just catapulted me
44:07
into my first going towards valley which is now joy like literally flip-flop and so the guy who's going into 2021 is this guy here's my move yes whoa and i'm going in as my fullest self for myself so i can show up for my family thank you tony robbins and the beautiful tony robbins team for truly truly saving my life all right give it up for marcus everybody give it up for marcus
44:40
yes from sorrow to joy who here has an old story they're committed to turning around over the next four days say yes all right let's get our bodies warmed up please welcome back to our virtual stage one of our favorite human beings it's brian bradley everybody welcome brian welcome brian [Music] yeah guys we're good we're good thank you so much i want to start off because
45:14
i only have a couple minutes with you today because i know tony wants to get an amazing message out to you again so of course this is authentic artwork so we may we may auction it off later let me sign it and it's one of one so it's it's a it's an original but this is how the body was looking this is what we should be looking at with 90 degrees this is a quick education on what your body should be doing and why we're doing what we're doing why we're doing it 90 degrees
45:43
level shoulders the body's vertical like this now i drew this hairstyle in there just in case you're still into the mullet or you just have a really cool haircut so looking at these the ankle the knee the hip and the shoulder should be vertical the hips should be level and this but what if your body's like this you're frowning and you're rounded over in your upper back which i know a lot of you have pain there and your pelvis is out of position you're suffering from
46:14
nbd which is no butt disease and then you wonder why getting on a bike or on a a mini trampoline or anything like that hurts you your hip gets elevated here your shoulder drops down here your head shifts over and now you have a little bit of functional scoliosis and you think i'm in some serious trouble so instead of focusing on life's happening to me you just heard that versus life's happening for me how about the injury is an opportunity for you to move to your next level
46:47
so let's review a little bit of stuff that we did yesterday so let's have you stand up okay and i'm gonna have you back up like this and you'll see i i only bring quality socks to the game um i want you to just relax your feet put them where you want let's check that balance again close your eyes where are you today versus yesterday think about it right to left front to back and now we're going to interrupt that with a couple exercises that will take
47:19
you to that next level so we're going to go through the elbow curls and the arm circles once again so here we go i want you to get your feet dead straight ahead fist width apart and you'll notice that my feet they're not out one's not out they're perfectly straight slightly pigeon-toed which will now trap a muscle in here which we're going to talk about tomorrow because there's a big fight coming tomorrow for the ufc and we're going to talk about where the power comes from to be able to do this
47:51
so get those feet straight put those hands in this position that fist opened up right behind your temples and with your feet straight let's open and close this 15 to 20 times today create that movement good good good good good good okay now let's go back to this position again the same hand position because then we're going to be doing the greatest abdominal exercise ever to get your energy up i want you to get your feet straight
48:36
if you're out here this is not how wide your hips are your hip joint is right below these two bones that we all used to feel when we was laying out at the swimming pool it's right there so bring it underneath that's why i say fist width drop your shoulders hands in this position shoulder blades pull back bring it up and now let's circle 40 times just like this look at my speed they're small circles your arms should not be coming up here keep them directly out of your side like this
49:09
you can even go with the beat of the music right so we're just going [Music] good okay now let's go palms up circle back up and back same thing just like this you're just getting the arm to circle from the shoulder good keep going because just this interrupt will change how your body's balanced and then we're
49:49
going to finish off with only 20 seconds of the sprint and i'll explain to you as you're going why you're doing the spring [Music] i love the smile i love the smiles this is fun okay let's get set let's get your feet in this staggered position let's get that heel up a little bit as if you were really going to take off and run forward so from the side view it looks like this your arm is at 90 degrees your hands are stiff
50:19
and you're gonna do this okay not rock and sock em not hey let's milk the cows it's this movement that we have to get so here we go 20 seconds set go turn it on turn it on turn it on this is to wake up the hip yes you're doing the work at the shoulder but you're waking up your hip guys get it going five four three two one okay switch sides switch legs
51:00
and guys listen that elbow's gotta come behind you not just this let's get it behind you here we go go who's the fastest who's the fastest who's the fastest [Music] guys listen we'll have a little bit more time tomorrow to explain some stuff but get ready for day two this is gonna
51:40
be unbelievable congratulations for being here all right everyone give it up for brian bradley all right get a lot of energy in your body flip to a new note page today my friends is about the power of identity and if you're thinking what the heck is that there's an invisible force inside of you that controls how people interact with you how you interact with yourself and what you believe you are capable of today we are about to bring mr tony robbins to the stage and he's going to show you
52:14
how to make tiny little adjustments in that identity that'll transform every area of your life now get ready to take notes like crazy i cannot bring him up here though unless we are in a peak what peak what please if you would stand up out of your chairs and i'm about to teach you one of the most powerful tools you will ever learn and it is called the 10 second energy crank in a moment the music
52:46
is going to blast off and you are going to command that energy inside of your body rip it to the ceiling shake your body for 10 seconds and then if the volume is loud enough the energy is right enough i will bring mr tony robbins right off of that stage and on here with you if you already say there's the music come on get a little crazy do something wild move your body it's day two everybody of the new world
53:19
new youth challenge please welcome back to the virtual stage the number one success coach on the planet your man tony robbins christina riemann where's that energy you got it christina oh you got her army there vanda
53:59
[Applause] energy [Applause] ignacio there you go come on i got that head movement [Applause] yes high fives all around fist bumps virtual or impersonal [Applause] gravis heat feeling great now yesterday we focused on the first thing to change your life is more energy so even when you sit down train yourself to do it so right now
54:43
turn the music up and from your chair create more energy remember energy comes from movement movement of sound movement of your body crank your energy in your chair ready one two three go [Applause] come on that's it guys make some noise while you do it [Applause] [Music] action rather natasha
55:21
[Music] there you go jennifer sean [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] very nice very nice so welcome back listen guys it was really wonderful to spend time with you yesterday i know i went a little crazy almost four hours and i promised you 90 minutes but i like to over deliver but i also know you got to manage your life so today i think we get this done in
56:01
about two hours two hours and 15 minutes and keep it tight today's lesson is one of the most powerful and important ones you know normally a short a short seminar for me is 12 or 14 hours i know it sounds crazy to you but when you get into it as more time goes by time disappears because when you're really fulfilled when you're doing things that are really shifting you have you ever discovered like you know what's a long time a long time is any time you're not enjoying yourself right a minute can feel like eternity if you're going through something horrible but if you're having a great time hours
56:32
can god they can go by so quick so time is really emotion and what we want to do here this week is see if we can't give you some key principles each day tools and then take some action so we get that momentum going so you really do set yourself up without any hyperbole without any bs without positive thing truly set yourself up to make 2021 your best year because make it 21 your best year you got to make you move to the next level who's with me on this say i say i so in order to do that we kind of
57:03
kind of identify it so yesterday we started with just understanding that we really got to take control of our own minds that yes some of what you experience in the past world is kind of over something new is available but you can't move on and build something new and create until you kind of let go of some of what you've been hanging on to your expectations and even if it's unjust even if it's unfair eventually we got to let go or we're the prisoner and so we walk through those five stages if you recall that people go through that shock that anger or that sense of fear or loss that
57:34
gam you know you know trying to to negotiate so to speak to make things happen eventually a lot of sadness eventually some acceptance of what has been but as we said we want to create now that's what this is all about and creating a way to not just get back to where you were but get to a place that's even better as i've said always the greatest story of humanity is always the comeback isn't it you want to root for that person it's the rocky stories right it's the people that get knocked down because we all get knocked down we all get taken to our
58:04
knees covet has done that or at least our reactions to covet have done that and so it's not where you go it's what do you do when that happens because anybody can do well when life is going their way can you do well can you find a way to do well when it's going against you and so yesterday we talked just a little bit about problems or gifts doesn't always look like it but if you recall we chatted about there are times in your life when you've had some horrible things happen but you look back three four five years later and you go don't want to have to go through it again anybody else i care to but i see why it happened it made me stronger it made me care more it made
58:36
something shift in me or it gave me lessons that allowed me to succeed today and then we talked just a little bit to give you a sense about what are the things that are really controlling us those invisible forces that we're talking about those emotions that we have an emotional home that literally we find a way to get back to it if our home is not so nice we get back to it if our nose is home is beautiful we get back to it mentally and emotionally and so today we want to show you what controls that emotional home and it's this term called identity identity
59:06
and it's similar theme yesterday i saw many of you going back online thank you for doing it sharing your old story your new story what you're going to do with 2021 because you need that clarity without a vision people perish it says in a very good book called the good book and the bottom line is we need that vision when we're stressed out so many people have no vision for where we're going if your vision to just get back to work that's not much of a vision we got to say how do we make it even better but to do that is going to require a different you than the one might be overwhelmed or stressed and that's why
59:37
we talked you a little bit through the warrior and the lover and the magician and the king or queen or the sovereign how many of you got a lot out of yesterday and it's still with you today you're going to build on it here say aye awesome so today when we talk about identity what are we really talking about please jot this down as a phrase it's a little the long phrase but jot it down because it's critical because when i started working with people i started studying every tool i could find that could help people change quickly and it wasn't because i was an intellectual i wanted to change
01:00:08
me you know i was in high school i was i loved people but i wasn't the most popular kid in school in fact the most popular kid in school treated me and my friends like dirt like trash he was mean as hell i thought how could he be popular and it made me want to understand human psychology and what drives people and where they are and plus i was fat and short i was five and so i had to figure out what to do to turn myself around so i want to learn every tool and a lot of things i did gave me a change for a short term but then i go back who's experienced this either like with your weight
01:00:39
or your finance you start to make money or drops back or in a relationship right and it's like it would piss me off i'd be mad at myself but you know i know many of you do this because it's human nature like we have high expectations for ourselves somebody like you comes to an event like this you're pushing yourself to be more to do more to create more and i used to beat myself up like why aren't i doing this but there's a problem beating yourself up does anybody know what it is when you beat yourself up one of the critical elements to taking action for solving things for
01:01:08
having a great psychology is energy and when you beat yourself up and you say i should have done this why didn't i do this or what's wrong with me does your energy increase or decrease guys show me which one you know damn well it decreases so what it actually does it becomes a trap the more you beat yourself up the worse you get and then you beat yourself up more now you're in this vicious cycle so i started study what makes the difference i try to look at what's the pattern why why is one person going and say i'm stopping smoking and they do it and another person stops and they tell
01:01:41
you i'm on day four and i start to recognize if they tell me they're on day four of not smoking they're telling me because they're counting why are they counting so they can tell people how long they lasted they're going to go back they haven't actually made a lasting change they made a change in the moment how many of you here will have something in your life you want to make a major change and have it last who's got something that nature you want say i say i well the only way to do that is to shift your identity and here's why please drop this phrase down and then
01:02:11
i'll explain to you exactly what i mean the strongest force in the human personality say it again the strongest force and the human personality the strongest force and my personality strongest force in your personality the strongest force in any human being's personality is the need to stay consistent with how we define ourselves it's the need to stay consistent with how we define ourselves that's a long phrase but i'm going to tell you it's so critical if you're looking for lasting change not
01:02:41
just change for the moment so one last time i think we're putting we're putting on the screen here for you the strongest force and the human personality is the need it's within you it's a drive within you just stay consistent with how we define ourselves now what the hell does that mean i'll give you an example if you think you are a loser you've somehow developed this belief system this way of identifying yourself to yourself that you know i always try and i end up sabotaging it and you keep telling yourself that enough remember you tell lie big enough
01:03:11
loud enough long enough sooner or later people believe it that was hitler who said that by the way but we are the hitler to ourselves so if you have a limited identity if you're like oh man i always screw it up i always mess up my relationship i always sabotage when uh when we did our q a yesterday you know one of the people in the vip group said you know how do i stop sabotaging myself and i said well give me the example of how you're doing it and she's talking about she always gets with the wrong guy and then and then she overeats and i said honey you're not sabotaging yourself you're just going for pleasure
01:03:43
right the kind of guy who will give you pleasure in the moment because he's you know in her case she's looking for a bad boy but that bad boy who's immature only cares about himself and so when you're at him after a while you can't stand him right but it feels really great energetically in the beginning how many ladies know what i'm talking about here raise your hand if you know what i'm talking about i see a lot of you know what i'm talking about right but you like having that opposite energy a man who has that confidence that certainty is going to make it happen but any selfish it's a problem and i said to her you though the problem is not you're
01:04:14
attracted to that kind of guy the problem is you haven't learned how to discern between masculine that is mature who wants to love you serve you and has that confidence and certainty and direction and will take you so to speak and a man who's just doing it for himself and i said so but when you make it your identity that this is who i am the strongest force in the human personality is stay consistent so you will do it again if you for example if you were in a position where let's say you had a big goal and you really were committed to it and
01:04:43
the last minute you start having some fear right fear you're gonna fail fear not looking good fear of rejection we all have these fears right and so let's say you get to go do it and then you pull back you hesitate you procrastinate you put it off and then you get yourself going again and you procrastinate after a while you don't want to feel bad about yourself so what do you do you go i'm a procrastinator once you identify i am with anything consistently enough with enough emotion you believe it once you believe it you live it you will find him remember yesterday i
01:05:15
said look for brown and you found lots of brown in fact you found beige and called it brown didn't you just to feel good or look for red and many of you saw burgundy things encounter them because you're going to find what you look for and your identity determines what you look for and what you find it controls what you see remember the salt i example i gave you where the person's i can't find so i don't know where the salt is how the salt is well your belief blinds you you can't even see the salt right in front of you so identity is the lever that can change
01:05:45
your life faster than anything else and it's the way you get lasting change so if i if you said to me who here raise your hand if you used to smoke cigarettes at one point in your life or you have used to smoke cigarettes quite a few and drop your hand keep your hand up but drop your hand if you stop smoking and have never gone back fantastic vasenji congratulations majority there now question if i said to you listen hey uh you know uh would you like a cigarette and you say what brand is it right if you said if you say no i'm not a
01:06:15
smoker and i s you're not gonna ask what brand is it if you're not a smoker you don't even consider the cigarette you go i'm a non-smoker jot this down your identity is defined by who you believe you are and who you believe you are not we define ourselves but what what we think we are who we believe we are and by what we're not i'm not one of those so if someone is going to stop smoking permanently and they keep fighting it it's not going to last willpower doesn't last
01:06:45
but if they can link enough pain to it and their brain starts to go i'm not a smoker or i'm a health nut and if they really get that in their nervous system as an identity they can't smoke a cigarette it's just like if i go to some person who like wants a ferrari right and i show them well why don't you try this volkswagen out like ah no no why not ah that's cheap it's this what they're really saying is i see myself as this speed person or this you know high-end person and that's not high-end i'm not having that
01:07:16
how many know what i'm talking about here so your decisions are controlled by your identity that's the most important thing i've had mothers come up to me this happens a lot at events sometimes fathers but more often others they'll come up and they'll say you know i'm having such trouble with my son here you know can could you tell him this would you ask him tell him that he needs to do this and i say why he says because he'll listen to you if you say it he'll do it because he idolizes you i said why doesn't he do it when you say it
01:07:47
and i go uh i don't know i said i'll tell you why he has an identity for you you don't keep your word you tell me shouldn't do something but you let him do it or whatever you're not consistent he perceives me or she perceives me as consistent and i mean it because i tend to communicate that way and so they'll respond to me so everything in your life how you respond to yourself how other people respond to you with your children your friends or your coworkers is all your identity we could trade the word identity for brand if you want because that's the most common word
01:08:17
because of social media so people use your brand determines how people interact with you so let me give an example let's say let's say we all meet somebody here let me somebody on the screen here how about uh we see this woman here let's say helen wood hi helen how you doing nice to see you she's a little panicked as i'm doing it and if we see helen here and let's say we all have a belief about helen that helen is a generous person there she is how you doing helen nice to see you hi where are you in the world helen um
01:08:48
i'm in milton keynes in uh the uk in the uk give it up for right there ladies and gentlemen in the uk so if i come along and i say okay helen here let's say we all have a set of beliefs about hell that's all an identity is a set of beliefs that you link to a person so it could be yourself or someone else so let's say we've all looked at helen i've been watching her here just as we're starting and she's got a beautiful smile and she's been so participatory and let's say i watched her if it was a live audience interact with other people and she was really generous and really warm and really connected
01:09:23
and i'm watching that and i'm looking in the audience and she's looking up smiling well you and i if we watched her might go by her behavior you know helen is a sweet human being she's warm she's loving she's kind and what if we even believe she's our friend now if you believe this is her identity she's warm she's kind she's loving she's generous and she's my friend will that affect the way you interact with her a little or a lot guys which one this is a lot this is a little show me which one yeah a ton right but what if we thought helen was a manipulating now she's
01:09:54
not look at that facial expression i'm glad i got her attention right and if you thought she was manipulating that she would do anything for money that she would take advantage of anybody to get whatever she wants even though it's not true i look at that smile look at that manipulating smile she has there i've been watching her she knew she's gonna manipulate me with that smile i know better right if we think she's a manipulating is it gonna affect the way we interact with her a little or a lot a lot i see your film thumbs up a ton right so here's what you need to
01:10:25
understand what if helen our dear dear friend comes along and she treats you really mean really harsh one day and she's your friend like helen's normally a great lady what's going on here you'll be freaked out because it's inconsistent with her identity and if you can't resolve the problem like you have to leave hang up the phone go to a meeting or something you will probably rationalize helen's behavior won't you because she's your friend that's your identity for you she's a good person so you'll probably say ah
01:10:55
she's probably stressed she's probably having a what bad day how many of you ever had a bad day where you hope people gave you the the flexibility i think it was a bad day for you right okay good but watch this we put helen back up there and if we think helen is a manipulating and instead of being real horrible to us this manipulating starts treating us real nice what's going to be the first question in all our minds what's the first question put in the chat box what's the question you have this is woman's a manipulating and
01:11:26
she's treated me nice what's the first question yes suspicious why what does she many of you are singing over what does she want so here's why i'm telling you this helen is the first not the second person clearly but i want you to see your relationship with helen the way you communicate what you think about what you do is not controlled by helen it's controlled by the beliefs you have about helen or the identity you have for helen if that makes sense raise your hand say i
01:11:56
but the more powerful identity is the one you have with yourself the way you've defined yourself really controls you and so it can be to your advantage you know lance armstrong has you know he did dope he he had an experience think about this he was one of the greatest most recognized athletes in the world did things no athlete had done as a cyclist in history you know brought great fame to america but right before this he had this mindset that i'm the champion i always find the way to win that's his mindset problem with that is
01:12:27
he do anything to win including break the rules around doping and so now that's harmed his identity career life and direction but it sure served him when he got cancer because if you remember some of you may not recall you know the live strong is because this man not only developed cancer one day showed up at the doctor and the doctor says i have pretty horrific news you better sit down he said you have cancer in your lungs a little like golf ball size you have it in your brain and you have in your testicles and by the way
01:12:59
you know any man in your testicles will get your attention any form of cancer was that one for sure but imagine you ride a bike and it's in your testicles and guess what they said you're gonna die right he was terminal but his identity was i find the way to victory i'll find whatever it takes it's served in there he's living still he's out of cancer it did not serve him when it went to the rule structures of being a cyclist so if your thing is i find the way you're going to find the way if your thing is i always end up losing or people hate me
01:13:31
or i put things off or whatever whatever your identity is if it's a negative identity that is what's controlling your life and you can go to 5 000 seminars and read hundreds of books and do all kinds of crazy things but unless you shift that identity you're going to call it sabotaging yourself but what the brain is really doing is living what you taught it is we live what we believe we are so you have to be so careful what you attach the words i am to and i can remember one of the most powerful days of my life still in my life
01:14:03
when i was still in high school and my mom and you know kicked out my father's my fourth father got kicked out and now she chases me out with a knife again she wouldn't have killed me or anything but i wasn't going back in and i got to support myself i'm going to high school and i'm living in this person's laundry room and so i got a job working in these banks in the middle of the night and so i had to take these buses i had to go through three different buses to get there a long way about a 45-minute drive if you're driving straight there in a car with buses about an hour and a half
01:14:33
i go and do my work i do six hours of work and two two and a half hours i finish two in the morning i come back wait for the bus get on the bus do the three buses back get home you know usually around four in the morning you know 3 45 3 30 in the morning then try to sleep for three or four hours and get up and go to school i tell you this because one of the most powerful days of my life was i finished doing all the banks work like crazy and then i came outside it's two in the morning i'm waiting for the bus i'll never forget i'm looking at my watch no bus 210 no buts 2 30 a.m no bus i mean i
01:15:05
don't have a car i don't want to get home i mean i got to get home where are the buses and finally about 2 45 in the morning a guy pulled over just driving late at night and he saw me at the bus stop and he goes hey guy don't you realize there's a bus bus strike the buses have gone on strike that night so i have no way to get home so true story guess what i did i was so pissed off and angry about remember we talked yesterday about breakthroughs and like what made it possible how many of you what made the breakthrough possible is you finally got enough pain
01:15:35
your brain went no more i'm changing this freaking thing now how many of you that's what did it raise your hand if that was the trigger say i say i so for me the trigger was like my mom took my 1960 volkswagen i earned it 40 bucks a week as a janitor and i have no way home and i'm angry quite frankly i was angry at her at that stage and so i was like i'm going to run home i've never run three miles and you know the area that i ended up running was almost 14 miles like 13 and three quarters
01:16:07
because i went back later with a car one day and tracked it about five years later just to see how far i'd run a guy never run three miles but i did it with this will that's why i remember it so fervently and what i did is i built an identity that night an identity i still use to this day because what i did was i started doing what i called incantations not affirmations affirmations when you go i'm happy i'm happy i'm happy and your brain goes bs you're not happy right you're just saying this right but if you speak something with total
01:16:38
authority out loud and you feel it and you experience it over and over and over again you basically train you condition you hypnotize yourself into owning that belief or identity so my thing is i just i've read this old book every day and every way i'm getting stronger and stronger every day and every and i do that for 20 minutes like every day and every way i'm becoming more and more happy every day and i just kept training myself i am a force of nature i am a force of nature nothing stops me i did the whole 13 and three quarters it
01:17:10
was mind-boggling i was completely exhausted but i found a part of myself that i still use to this day because i conditioned that core belief it gave me certainty to be able to do things i'd never done before i gave me a way to strengthen my will it expanded my identity how many follow what i'm talking about here if it makes sense say i say i so using the ability to train yourself because that's how your identities come here you've judged things you've done and
01:17:41
decided that's who you are but i want to give you a little secret people do things all the time that are not consistent with who they are but if you point it out enough and you see you keep screwing up pretty soon you might say i'm a screw-up when in reality anyone who's successful has failed much more than you know it's like you look at somebody who's unbelievable athlete somebody's an unbelievable entertainer speaker communicator artist they didn't just show up that way they are being rewarded in public for what you practice in
01:18:12
private consistently you might want to jot that down we're all rewarded in public for the things that we consistently practice and refine in private and so you see that person you think they're a genius but if you watch they've been failing more than anybody else they just failed more often so they learn quicker make sense so the bottom line is if you and i are going to make a shift we got to make a shift in this definition of ourself or otherwise it'll keep bringing it back to where it was but we often do it based on our behavior
01:18:42
and again please jot this down to help you with other people too so you don't judge them so much people are not their behaviors write it down again people are not their behaviors because what people do have you ever done this ever gotten stressed out or pissed off and said something or did something that you weren't proud of or wish you hadn't who's ever done this before say i if you don't raise your hand you lie about other too don't you right we've all done it so we all can get in a state of anger or
01:19:13
fear or worry or sadness or depression or rage and say or do something and if you do that multiple times you'll start to think that's who i am when you're so much more than that but once you lock in that definition it controls you let me give you another example think of it like if i took the room i'm in right now here and i turn the thermostat to let's say i don't know 67 degrees right and all right 68. i see somebody's got a little picture here for me so if i put it 68 degrees and let's use 68 degrees
01:19:44
as a metaphor for identity 68 degrees is your comfort zone so use the metaphor like 68 degrees is the amount of you know joy you will consistently expect to have not what you want but what you kind of expect it's what you're used to 68 degrees is how much money not how much money you want but the money you're used to having right it's your comfort zone 68 degrees might be how how comfortable you are with intimacy you know i was like i'm a 68 degree i'm not 100 degree or that's too hot that's too intimate you know
01:20:14
but i'm not no intimacy down here 20. see what i mean metaphorically 68 degrees might be your body it's like you want it to be stronger but 68 is what you're used to so 68 is your current identity also you could call it your comfort zone what happens if we set the thing at 68 degrees and things get a little chilly here things start to get a little cold the energy drops drops drops and you go from 68 to 66 to 65 to 64. at some point
01:20:45
might be 60 61 62 might be 59 there's a computer on board and the computer goes hey we're a 68 degree or what the hell you doing here at 59 this is wrong this is not who you are and so the heaters kick on to bring you back up to where you think you belong your identity 68 degrees you know what's interesting the same thing happens when you succeed more than you expect so you think you're a 68 degree or financially emotionally happiness health strength relationship
01:21:16
god whatever and you start doing better than you're used to better than you've experienced in the past you go from 68 to 78 to 88. we get to 98 99 degrees something happens in the brain the computer goes hey hey what the hell are you doing up here you're not a 99 degree or you're a 68 degree and then what happens the heaters stop so you lose your drive if you're you know somebody's in sales you start to buy instead of selling things right you hang out on social media instead of being
01:21:47
productive right and if that's enough the air conditioning kicks on to bring you right back down where you start to sabotage and get right back to where you think you're supposed to be how many of you have had both these experiences i'm curious by a show of hands have you ever experienced where things got so bad your brain was no more and you just stepped up and finally handled it who's had that happen say i and how many of you also had were you did better than you expected and then you kind of sabotaged it or didn't stay as focused
01:22:17
lost your drive or are you really great and great in a relationship and you said something and messed it up like why did i do that who's done this before raise your hand say i [Applause] so the thermostat is your identity and i'm here today to share with you that you can change that definition and until you do you will not see lasting change right you're not think about it first time you smoked a cigarette what was your response yumbo hell no you coughed your brain wins what the hell are you doing and then some other part of your brain that
01:22:48
saw the commercials goes shut up brain the sex will be worth it right you were trained right i mean like james dean some of you can remember back in the 50s i remember my parents think they thought this guy was the hottest guy just smoking his cigarette owning himself but when they smoked the cigarette didn't taste like but they was like no i want that identity so today people have identity by smoking they do it by tattoos they do it by how many earrings they have they do it by wearing a baseball cap i don't know they do it by so many
01:23:18
different ways right we all have different identities now a certain watch that they have and so forth and it's external but it's all a reflection of how you perceive yourself to be and there's no right or wrong here but if you're not getting the results you want in your relationship or in your body it's because you have an identity that's in the way which is by the way here's the cool thing it's just a belief and a belief is nothing but something you've told yourself over and over and over again with enough certainty and now you believe it but even though you're wired to think a certain way
01:23:49
you can rewire yourself to think and be a different way and there's no way in hell i have the privilege to be with you right now if i hadn't continually upped my identity it's not like a one-time thing it's like i find myself not doing something why am i doing well that's just not me you ever said that i'm not one of those people but when you say that you got to ask yourself when did i define myself how long ago and have i learned things since then have i experienced life differently do i know more now maybe it's time to redefine who i am so
01:24:21
that my behavior will naturally come in a normal way so i want you to understand identity from two pieces one most importantly how it affects you it shapes your whole life so if i ask you who are you people go oh what do you mean they get uncomfortable i said don't even think just tell me who you are who else are you who are you and people write all kinds of things but you'll see certain things they've really identified with most and those things really control their life so if you want to change your life change your story your story begins with who you believe
01:24:52
you are right and then therefore how i'm going to live my life in fact i'm sure you've heard of people turning 40 or 50 or whatever it is and having what they call an identity crisis what's an identity crisis if you don't know really who you are anymore if you're questioning who you are if you don't know who you are you don't know what to do so that's why people create so many labels and labels can enhance your life sometimes and other times they can shrink your life or lock you in a box and make you stuck
01:25:22
the other reason to understand identity is so you don't label other people and stick them in a box in intimate relationships in the beginning people are totally open everything's wonderful and then you know you have some problems or challenges with your kids or with your parents or with work or with cash flow in your business or you know you guys love each other but you have different kinks different experiences you grew up with different ways of looking at life different meanings and now you start going god she's a jerk he's an and if you do that enough and especially if you go tell your friends about them
01:25:53
like i heard this one woman say my husband is the prince of darkness right i was like wow that's really gonna enhance your relationship right because you're gonna look for everything he does wrong everything is mean everything is dark once you believe that right i remember a friend of mine he kept saying you know it's like you know we we go out we play cards or something towards the end he goes yeah i got to go i got to go home to the ball and chain i said wow that's really compelling right and then i noticed one of my buddies like six months later had been around my other friends so much he started
01:26:22
using the same phrase and they both the second guy loved his wife and i could see the relationship change and i finally said listen it's not my place but you know this is what i do for a living and let me tell you what's happening you're not even seeing it so be careful the limiting identity you attach to someone because once you do that your brain you know you get in your head you heard the gentleman earlier i always teach you get in your head you're dead you got to stay in your heart because the mind wants to make black and white good or bad he wants to generalize the store and delete to keep things simple
01:26:54
but life is a little more complex than these oversimplifications and then you miss out on things that really matter is this making sense to you so far so let's think of something you're not doing that you want to do and you're not doing it why i virtually guarantee you one of the reasons why is it's not part of your identity in fact it's outside of it so like for example i told you the day i decided i was gonna work out every day for nine months and at the end of that if i don't want to work out again great but i'm going to commit myself just to develop
01:27:25
kind of the wiring in my body to get myself strong well studies show now that if you will work out for nine months you will work out for the rest of your life you may get injured or hurt or drop off for a while or have a baby but then you'll be pulled back to it because you're so wired because it becomes part of your identity mom's out there you know when you had a baby your identity shifted now you're a mom a mom has a whole set of different decisions and way of looking at life than a woman or a single woman or
01:27:55
somebody in without a child ladies how many agree with me on it so i can see if i'm striking correctly here good yeah so you know it's true so the minute you shift identities and by the way we have multiple identities that's the other thing i want you to realize if you think you're only one thing holy that's why i wanted you to find the warrior yesterday and the magician which is totally different and the lover and the sovereign and you have more than those four the secret is to find identities that lift you and get you to follow through if you think i'm a athlete or you think i'm a weekend
01:28:26
warrior or you think i'm a health nut or you think i'm not one of those people that's slovenly and just sits on the couch you can define yourself by what you are and also by what you're not remember you develop that identity you're going to work out consistently and how do you do it you do it first by creating the actions so here's what i want to do today i'm going to table identity just for a moment as important as it is because i want to show you the full picture if you want an extraordinary life what is an extraordinary life it's not my definition
01:28:56
it's yours i would define an extraordinary life as life on your terms in other words whatever you truly want i don't care if it's a picket fence and three children or three companies or you and god merging as one or painting beautiful art or writing poems or garden i don't care what it is whatever it is that you really want most you're going to get it if you can start defining yourself in a way that pulls you towards that and where who you are is consistent to do that like i don't see myself as a painter per
01:29:28
se right and i have a friend who paints the most crazy stuff i've ever seen and but i actually have learned to love it and one of his i love it is he loves it so much like he gets so excited about doing this i remember i i was spending some time with george w bush at one point and you know in his retirement he became a painter he read a book by churchill you know a great leader obviously and he in the later part of life became a painter and all sudden george bush decided hey there's a rembrandt in here so he hired a guy he said there's a rembrandt in here and your job is
01:29:57
find a way to get him out right and once he started doing that george bush started doing all these paintings now he's selling his paintings around the world he has this incredible expression so anything can become owned i didn't start out with this intensity and focus i didn't pop out of the womb this way i was not this way as a child i trained myself to be the person who could live life on what i consider my terms to be where i could keep growing and sharing and making a difference in the world and enjoying the process in order to do that i had to shift
01:30:28
things i had to see myself being willing to take risks so i just see myself as an intelligent risk taker whereas before is like i can't take any risk that's not who i am i can't afford that there's no room we have no money we have no this we have no that so the first step in changing your story is enhance or expand your identity now if you're not getting the result you want if you're not having the extraordinary life you want at this point at the level of quality you desire and deserve if you want to shift it i'm really good
01:31:00
at after decades of doing the office to make things so complex understanding human brain one explain every detail in neuron i began to realize nobody gives a what they really want is how do i get results now who's with me on that say i say i so what i started to do is say how do i keep things simple enough so that you'll truly execute so you'll truly follow through because we all know knowledge is not power knowledge is potential power execution trumps knowledge every day of the week
01:31:30
true so it's not enough to have the knowledge we got to get ourselves to follow through well forget yourself to follow through there's five things you need to change how you're feeling if right now you're not where you want to be one or more of these five are out and if you change all five of these things there's zero question your entire life will change i'll make it really simple i'm gonna form a triangle and in the middle of it is what controls your life so let's put this on the screen so you can follow me so number one everything these are called the five to thrive everything that determines the quality
01:32:01
of your life is based on the mental emotional state you're in right now if you're feeling really angry life is angry if you're feeling playful you're to find enjoyment and stupid right right everything is your state and so the quality of your life is where you live emotionally or the state you're in most often if you are not in the state you want you got to change it how can we change our state let's start with the core three elements that control how you feel and the meanings you give
01:32:32
your life there's three triggers in this triangle first is the way you use your physical body or what we call physiology write down physiology first if i want to change the way i feel the fastest way for me to do that is a radical change in my body so if i talk like this and i drop my shoulders and i rub my face and i go you know i don't know i don't know i i don't know the answer man i don't know what to do i will never know because this
01:33:02
physiology puts me in an uncertain state raise your hand if you understand what i'm talking about so i know i got you fantastic guys thank you so but if i make a radical change in my movement or my voice on my face or my eyes or my gestures instantaneously it changes your biochemistry and what you're going to do changes like that remember yesterday we talked about hands on the hip superman you know wonder woman style shoulders back for two minutes and now boom in two minutes testosterone flows 20 more through your system cortisol drops 33 percent
01:33:35
and you're more than a third more likely to take action well that's just standing and that's physiology physiology can be static standing or it can be dynamic if it's dynamic your biochemistry is going to change even quicker so changing your voice right now wherever you are try this for a second how many can remember a time when you were like a little kid and you just made weird noises and people wanted you to shut up but you had a damn good time whoever did this as a kid made kind of weird noises how many of you like to sing when no one's around raise your hand say aye
01:34:04
say i right why are you saying one node's around you you sound like hell but you don't care because it feels good because singing using your voice changes your body so right now just do me a favor wherever you are don't care who's there make the sound of total excitement like you're excited out of your mind like a little kid go ahead go for it come on come on come on steve cut ridge you can do it i'm watching you good job good job tinto tinto where's the energy brother i like your hat now where's the energy
01:34:36
come on all right now notice how many feel better after making that silly little sound in your body raise your hand if you feel it that's just a change in physiology again remember i said this to you yesterday if there was a depressed person behind curtain number one over here and i was going to give you a hundred thousand dollar donation to your favorite charity if you could describe their physiology the way they're using their physical body while they're depressed i bet you could do it right again where's their shoulders back or rolled forward which one down
01:35:09
where's the head show me with your own head where's the head when they're depressed up like this or where is the chest are they breathing full or more shallow that's right are they talking loud and fast or slow and hesitant you know because that way of using your body will put you in a shitty state and here's the problem many of us get in the habits of using our bodies a certain way over and over again and so we feel those same emotions we know no way out
01:35:40
but if your identity was like for example if your identity is i'm conservative and i'm quiet then when somebody's being really outrageous like oh my god i could never do that but when did you decide you were conservative and quiet how many decades ago and you know would you use the same software from 30 years ago 20 years ago 10 years ago would you even use the same phone from seven years ago hell no because you know i want to upgrade but most of us don't upgrade our identity and we don't have the habits of
01:36:11
our physiology so the way you move is one of things that defines the way you see yourself so one things we do when you go to like unleash the power within is four days and nights you're moving your body using your body all these ways until literally it's like they did this study at the university of california irvine you see irvine i don't support this but this is what they do they take a monkey and they bend four of his fingers down and tape them down then they physically bend this index finger ten thousand times go ahead and do this right now just with your finger just do this like this right now now how are you doing that you go what do you mean tony i'm just thinking of
01:36:42
thought well true but when you think of thought where you say i want to bend my finger you actually make a connection between neurons in the brain it's a big word it just means nerve cells in the brain make a connection and imagine that to do this once you made a string of connection this real thin connection do it twice two strings if you bend it ten thousand times you're now wired to do it now they open the monkey's hand and what does the monkey do for no reason right go so what i'm not a monkey what's
01:37:12
your point how many of you have a way to go to work back in the days when you went to work right where you get on a subway or you get on your car and you drive down a free and you get off on a surf certain off-ramp every day how many have a pattern like that that normally outside coveted you did let me see what your ads most of you right have you ever been uh going down that same freeway and you need to go a different off-ramp but you're so used to it and your brain's out to lunch and you get off on the wrong on rappers done this before say i see you're a monkey you're well
01:37:44
trained right so we want to retrain ourselves and you know what they found when they did this study is pretty amazing they didn't have to bend this 10 000 times they discovered that if they bent the monkey's finger and while they're doing it they stimulated the pleasure center of the brain they had a little needle that actually would go there and make pleasure happen as they bent it so it's like right looks a little crazy right if they did that three dozen times not 10 000 every time they bent the finger with
01:38:15
pleasure instead of one string of connection metaphorically they got a thousand strings of connection so when you train yourself with pleasure to do something again and again after a while it starts to become a part of you it becomes conditioned and it'll become part of your identity so the way you move is one way to do this right so for example you know people come when i do my unleashing power within we've done them in live environments we use the firewalk as a metaphor what was that about it's not about walking on fire it's about you get in front of 2000 degree burning hot
01:38:46
coals and your brain goes holy this is intense what the hell am i doing here and you freak out and i show you how to change your body to change your feeling from scared out of your mind to certain and you storm across the fire now with the events we do all over the world where people don't have to travel to them to get to it from their home the new unleash the power within virtual events i teach wood breaking and i we take wood we ship it to everybody and instead of going to two years of karate we teach you but we use it as a breakthrough we write down what does you want to break through in the back and we show you how to do it and even kids do it and they're just
01:39:17
like out of their mind because it's like wow what i thought was difficult or impossible is actually easy i get you to do something i just take people skydiving but it's hard to get 10 20 000 people in the middle of night over london or l.a or sydney or wherever right but people jump because after you do it it changes who you are after you walk on fire or break through the wood or skydive it's like if i can do that i can certainly deal with this over here how many follow what i'm talking about here say i say i
01:39:47
so our physiology the way we use our bodies we change the habit of that you will change the way you think the way you feel most importantly it'll change the state you live in that mental center what's the second component that if you don't like by the way if you don't like the way you're feeling right now it's the way you're sitting it's the way you're moving you know tony it's you you're boring as okay that's possible but could you be could you be around a boring speaker and be in a total peak state having a great time is that possible sure could you be sitting here with your
01:40:19
body breathing strong feeling alive and go it's amazing how he's able to bore so many people simultaneously see you know what to do in fact try it right now try this with your body before we go further i want you right now to sit up in your chair and i want you to create more energy than you can remember having in years for just 20 seconds and i want you to do it by moving your body and making sound okay ready go make that sound go make it up come on make some noise
01:40:50
[Music] [Applause] now every time you do something with your body like if we were to keep doing things like this in and out in and out for three and four days you literally rewire your body and you build a new identity that's really why i like i don't like doing 12 14 hours a day but i know the difference in the result of that versus going for five hours and taking a break you don't get the emergence like i said earlier you can read about swimming or you can go swimming with somebody knows what the hell they're doing
01:41:23
and your life's gonna change you're gonna become a swimmer not someone understands swimming again if you understand the difference say i now what i want you to see your physiology is the key for you feeling crap as well so try this in a moment i want you to get your energy up again like you're celebrating greatest energy your life making sounds and i'm going to use my hands like this and then i'm going to go okay bored and tired first i'll just drop my hands and i just want you to be silent and keep feeling the feeling and then i'm gonna go bored and tired
01:41:53
and i just want you to do with your body whatever you would naturally do to get bored and tired okay i want you to feel what you do different ready totally energized go [Applause] [Music] [Applause] okay feel good feel good but silent feel good feel good bored and tired go to wherever you are when you're bored and tired how do you sit where's your head how do you breathe yeah and just for a second glance up and look at the other people on the screen how they're doing it too
01:42:27
yeah now we're gonna do what's called a snap exercise so you can train your body when i say now it's like it's like a game i'm gonna go peak state and i want you to instantly go back in that peak state and then i'll go calm down still feel good and i'm bored and tired empty state boring time we'd say we're gonna wire our body to change quickly who's up for it who's willing to go for it say aye ready peak speed everybody go [Music] make some noise okay okay feeling good feeling good
01:43:02
feeling good silent feeling good bored and tired bored tired maybe i had some frustration in there bored tired frustrated pissed off notice what you do with your body now we're gonna start doing fish faster peach there go go go [Music] okay morning time peaks they go [Applause] [Music] more than time stay gold [Music]
01:43:32
more tired faster big stay goes more [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] go [Applause] now question start to go in a lousy state and start to feel what your body wants to do how many done enough times that you your body wants to go to a good place already if you can already feel a little bit of that now you imagine you do that day and night while you're learning other things for four days
01:44:12
you have a different body you have a different mind you have an expanded identity but i also want you to notice i didn't have to tell you what to do to get bored and tired or pissed off or frustrated you knew exactly what you do all of you did what dropped your shoulders let your breath out let your face go down right peak state you rose up in fact notice your physiology i have people come to me all the time it's funny as hell they'll come up to me and they'll say things oh you're mr robbins aren't you hey listen can i ask you a question and i'll go yeah i'm gonna walk to me like this local say something like
01:44:44
i don't know what it is but i i just i just feel down all the time why do you think i feel so down i look at him and go well let's take a look at your body right or something i'm so up all the time why do you think i'm so up i'm so happy i don't know what it is right because they use their body in a completely different pattern you get it physiology first many of you we don't like how you're feeling you try to think yourself into feeling better good luck it's possible but it's a lot harder if you radically change your body you
01:45:16
will radically change your biochemistry remember if you just stand like this your biochemistry will change in two minutes but if you use your voice and your movements dynamically it doesn't take two minutes you change literally in milliseconds and some of you won't do it because your identity is this is i'm clapping and jumping all that crap i'm not that kind of person what kind of person are you and really is that who you are or is that just the habit you've told yourself so you've lived that way for years and years and there's nothing wrong i'm not telling you have to jump up and down and be a crazy person like me
01:45:47
but you do have to be willing to use your body differently if you want to get a different result if that makes sense to you say yes say awesome so let's go to the second thing that controls how you're feeling right now one is the way using your body the way you're breathing the way you're sitting the way you're moving or not moving all that affects you even what you've eaten because if your blood sugar is low it's going to change your state as well right you overeat it's going to change your state but most importantly also what you focus on write down what you learned yesterday
01:46:18
focus equals feeling whatever you focus on you're going to feel even if it's not true if you're imagining oh my god this thing's gonna fall apart and the whole thing's gonna it's gonna totally fail and my whole life's gonna be over if you focus on that you are gonna feel like you're dying you're gonna feel like you failed you're gonna feel it as if it happened but if you focus on what you want and you see it as real and you own it in your body simultaneously your identity will shift your brain will go i'm doing this i will find the way if i can't find the way i'll make the way
01:46:50
focus and physiology together when they're both strong transform your life but remember focus wherever focus goes energy flows so if you keep focusing oh my god where did this happen what happens all your energy goes there you're actually more likely it's like i don't know if you've ever done this with your children by accident but you see your child maybe they've spilled the milk before and they're starting to get the milk their hand shake and you go oh i don't smell the milk and what do they do they spill the milk every time why because you tell them what not to do the brain has to picture what you just
01:47:21
said don't spill the milk say imagine spilling the milk that puts them in the state to spill the milk see we gotta put ourselves in the state of what we want instead of what we fear and when you ask most people what do you want what do most people say they tell you what they don't want well i don't want to live this way anymore i don't want to be in a relationship like this i don't want to work for a jerk like this company or this people i don't want i don't want anyone so they keep focusing what they don't want so they keep feeling what they don't want so they keep acting consistently they don't want they keep experiencing what they don't want if
01:47:52
that makes sense say yes say yes so we want to focus on what we do want we want to see it feel it experience it that's how we program our minds that's how you create otherwise you just have to become manager of whatever circumstances life or your government gives you and these days that's questionable in a lot of places in the world right people overreacting distorting deleting generalizing today people are so afraid of that four-letter word risk can you imagine none of us could
01:48:23
have gotten here unless we took significant risks and none of us got out of here unless someone before us was willing to risk their life to travel to some other country to go around the world to fight in a war to try to start a business it could go under but today oh it's risky if you're around breathing next to someone that got you believing if you want to educate yourself you don't have to be a person that's too terribly you know you have to be thinking like in different ways just go read john hopkins report they took it down after one day but two weeks ago they came out here in america
01:48:54
they took it down but if you go on the way back machine you know you can go back on your computer and go back in time on the web so people have already published it again and again and what it shows is the same number of people have died this year 2020 has died in 2019 2018 2017 2016 and 2015 2.8 million people it's within 10 to 15 000 people every year the same number of old people died in 2020 the only difference is when they looked by disease heart disease for the first time in 30
01:49:25
years has come down cancer has come down but covet has gone up in the exact proportions now that's interesting isn't it same number of people died by the way in case you haven't noticed the flu has disappeared it's flatlined what are the symptoms of the flu and by the way flu kills people and especially kills older people so we're living in a world where a lot of people might be overreacting because they're trying to protect us because they fought at a 3 mortality rate or four percent that
01:49:56
would be a pandemic but today depending on whose research you read it's 0.1 0.2 0.3 which is the same as the flu and if you're under 50 it's way below that so we live in a world that if we let people control our focus we're just going to live in fear and do nothing and we're going to be people that manage our circumstances but i don't believe you were created i was created i don't think the universe or god whatever you believe created this to just manage i believe we're here to create things who's with me here to
01:50:26
create love and joy and relationship and business and life say i but you can let someone condition you so many times that after a while you just accept things that your identity you just accept things i'm sure you've seen what they do or maybe you've heard the stories what they do when they take these elephants that work in circuses how do you take an elephant strong enough that they could rip the building apart these tents easily they have one chain around one leg because they take them when they're a baby
01:50:58
and they take this giant chain on this baby elephant he fights and he fights and he fights and he fights until he's completely exhausted he does it for several days after a week the minute they put the chain on he doesn't even fight it anymore that's what's happening to so many people right now but i suggest to you expand your identity to a person who's willing to take some risks intelligent risks not stupid risks and have a life because otherwise we have to shut down everything we're gonna have no risk think about that for your life
01:51:27
so focus if you focus on oh my god what if this happens what if that happens you're not gonna do what if i create it the way i want it focus equals feeling focus equals reality to the individual so you have to learn to take control of your focus and by the way i often teach people this there's patterns of focus if do you tend to focus more on what you have or what's missing guys put in the chat box if i said you we all do both but where do you spend more of your time focusing on what you have
01:51:59
or what's missing put in the chat box so i can see missing missing missing missing have missing missing have missing missing missing missing missing missing missing half half missing missing missing missing missing half missing half half missing gratitude okay good enough the majority of achievers and my guess is let me just see how many of you consider yourself part of your identity as i'm an achiever i make happen i don't just let it happen to me right if you're an achiever you tend to focus more on what's missing to try to motivate yourself
01:52:30
but here's the problem that's really smart if you did that like once a month checked in what's missing let me fix it but for achievers it becomes a habit so if you're constantly focusing on what's missing how can you ever sustain happiness you can't that's why you see people that have achieved billionaires biggest entertainer oscar winners and you talk to them personally and they're not real happy why is that because they're always focused on what's missing so it's never
01:53:01
enough here's the problem you can't build on failure you can only build on success so success without fulfillment without joy without gratitude is it's failure who agrees with me on this who thinks it's failure if you succeed and you're not fulfilled right that's the ultimate failure and yet that's what most of us do because we're always focused on what's missing so you got to train yourself to say okay like what do i have what is here what what is great what are my resources what do i have with me that'll completely change the way you
01:53:32
feel here's another habit do you have a habit of focusing on what you can control or what you can't control which one do you tend to focus on guys put in the chat box for me do you have to focus what you can control or what you can't control i'm saying can can can can't can can can can can't can can't can't can can can can't can't can't can can can can can't but you guys are fast okay good so whenever i do this in my seminars you know live seminar where i can see
01:54:02
everybody 20 000 people i can tell you point blank 80 of the people focus on what's missing because they're achievers but almost eighty percent of the people see they focus on what they can control because they sell selected they came to my seminar because they want to control their body or their mind or their emotions or their business or their money their finance or their kids they want to take control of their life how many came here for this week with me or these five days in the morning or afternoon or evening or middle of the night whenever you're there how many came because you want to take more control of your life that's one of the reasons you're here say i
01:54:34
say i so you tend to focus more on what you can control but watch this what do you think happens if somebody's in the habit of focusing on what's missing and what they can't control they're gonna be stressed out let me give you one last one real fast on focus do you tend to focus more on the past things in your past the present or the future where do you tend to put more of your focus shut it down so i can see past present and future past future future future future past
01:55:05
present present future future future future future future past past future future present future future future present present past future future okay in my seminars achievers tend to focus on the future raise your hand if you focus more on the future so i can see visually yeah you can see it's dominant rational if you focus more on the present primarily smaller number raise your hand if you focus more on the past that's the smallest number right now the reason is watch this pattern if you're an achiever you're trying to
01:55:37
anticipate the futures you can make a better one but sometimes if you don't come to the present you miss the joy do you see what i'm saying so the pattern goal would be focus on what i have so because i can build on success focus on what i can control that's what most of you already doing and then thirdly maybe focus on the presence i can enjoy and the future so i can anticipate the past i can't control but look at the opposite of this what have you got somebody's pattern is always focusing on what's missing they're always focusing what they can't
01:56:08
control by the way in covet that's easy to do if you don't discipline your mind if you don't train your mind because there's lots you can control and it's easy to just put your mind there and then you feel really overwhelmed oh yeah and then thinking about how good it was in the past how difficult is the past compared to now how many of you by a show of hands know someone who takes antidepressants and they're still depressed raise your hand if you know somebody like this raise your hand nice and i keep your hands up look around the room so you can see it's about sixty seventy percent of the room that's pretty wild how come they're
01:56:40
depressed that they're taking an antidepressant well one thing is on the side of the precedent it says create suicidal thoughts that ought to be a clue you're only depressed but now you're suicidal how cool is that right but what's crazy is all it does is numb you but see the reason people are still depressed is they haven't dealt with the source of the problem the source is they're constantly focusing on what's missing they're costly folks what they can't control and they tend often to focus on the past so these patterns of how you use your body and how you focus control how you feel they control the
01:57:10
meaning of your life what's the last part of the triangle language the pattern of language that you use language let's put it in there language write down equals meaning language equals me remember yesterday i said if you said to me you know tony uh what do we got for a you know for a snack today and i go we have some really nutritious snacks it's going to get a very different reaction if i say we have some delicious snacks or you say to me tony you meet so many people you know you must meet a lot of good men or women
01:57:40
hook me up and i go well i do know this one man i do listen to one woman and he or she is really nice versus i go they're delicious or they're sexy or they're crazy or they're outrageous or they're playful or they're loving how many follow what i'm talking about how one word can change the meaning of everything and when you change the meaning you change your emotions see we all use words a lot and some of you your life is not changing your identity is not changing because you keep using your body the same way you've always done you keep
01:58:14
the same pattern of focus and use the same words or phrases right like remember the example i gave yesterday i don't know where the salt is however the salt is out of the salt is you say that language over and over again and you won't be able to see the salt even though it's right in front of you you'll create a scotoma a blind spot so our language programs us you know i remember i my mom was a crazy lady and i'm old enough to remember i don't know if any any of you old enough to have actually been around before we had cell phones anybody old enough to remember when you had to go to like a pay phone booth
01:58:44
anybody remember those days or any of you old enough to remember having like a recorded call where your answering machine was on a desk somewhere in your house we have some old people thank god okay so i leave for a week and i go overseas i i think i was going to i was on a european tour and i gave my staff they've been working around the clock you know i think was gone for 10 days 10 days off and so all that's happening if you called my house is this recorder call and my mom keeps leaving this message and i got them all when i got home because the device you're supposed to do didn't work through the phone over in
01:59:15
the uk so i come home and there's message after message after master it's my mom getting progressively more angry and here's what she said in every message this is i'm humiliated to have to leave a message why should i have to leave a message this is humiliated she must have said the word humiliated in nine messages so i called her up and i said mom i said i love you so much i was out of town for 10 days i'm sorry i gave the staff off i used the answering machine but it wasn't working so i just wasn't getting your message i'm so sorry
01:59:45
and i said but mom i said the words you attach to your experience become your experience please jot that down the words we attach to our experience become our experience and you keep describing over and over again how humiliated you are and mom how often do you use that word not just with me anytime you're even slightly uncomfortable you call it humiliated and it takes an uncomfortable feeling and it makes it like a rocket of pain right what if you tried something new
02:00:17
like i'm a little frustrated or i'm sorry i didn't reach you or anything else because whatever words we speak they change our biochemistry it's very different if you go you're annoying me versus you're pissing me off versus i'm enraged how many follow the difference in escalation in your own biochemistry and some people use enraged for everything when they could have been just peeved or annoyed or a word that sounds so stupid it might make you smile instead of get angry
02:00:47
so our words and our phrases shape how we feel and here's the problem this triangle is thrown back on the screen for most people is a habit you have habitual ways of moving your body of using your voice you have habitual things you focus on habitual language or words you use and so your life doesn't change so if we want to change how we feel the center of our life that state we wanted to feel grateful we wanted to feel profound we want to feel driven want to feel excited we want to feel loved love requires use your body in a very different way try this right now sit up in your chair
02:01:19
and just for a second how would you sit if you were pissed off how would you say if you're pissed off what would you do with your body if you're pissed off you're probably not sitting back like this what would you be like if you're pissed off and then what you tend to focus on when you're pissed off what people didn't do what they said they're gonna do and didn't do it what words you tend to use some people use more colorful words than others f words s words or whatever but shake your body out now just shake it out and i want you to sit in your chair the way you do if you are feeling really
02:01:50
excited and happy how would you be sitting and feeling really excited happy what would you do with your hands what would you your body make a sound that you'd be making you feel feeling joyous happy excited just make that sound for a second yeah what do you tend to focus on when you're feeling really happy what if you focused on something if you wanted to feel happy right now what could you focus on what are you grateful for in your life what are you excited about who do you love
02:02:21
who loves you do you know you can change your feeling that fast just by changing your focus and your body if you change your focus long enough your body will change but i always say physiology first change your body it's even easier to change your focus and then there's the words you use habitually some people use words that piss them off all the time some people need words that make them explosive somebody use words that lower the intensity so these three tools i call it the triad or the three molders of meaning because
02:02:52
how you feel that state in the middle is based on the meaning and the meaning is going to be different based on how you're using your body based on what you're focusing on based on the words that you use does that make sense now listen i teach this to people where it's not quicky like this where we do it again and again until you get masterful you can change any state you want and you're wired to do it but if you're going to actually follow through there's two more pieces remember i called it five to thrive and you'll see why i brought the word identity to start with so let's put a circle around that triangle and what are the two things that
02:03:23
determine whether or not you're willing to change your physiology like i don't know some of you may have been in one of my seminars before and you've learned to do this and you go home and you're so happy and after about a month something happens and you're pissed off and somebody goes why don't you change your physiology you go i'll change your physiology right it's a different thing right but the truth of the matter is whether you you can know these skills and not use them if you're going to use them you need two things and one of these is missing for most people in the midst of covet and it's really critical
02:03:54
you're only going to use your abilities if you think it's going to matter or make a difference and so we all need at the top of the circle what i call a compelling future a compelling future that's the reason to use your skills to change your state to do what's necessary to push through the challenge that's why you need some really exciting goals remember i said yesterday when people say they're lazy i said no they're no lazy people they're just people with impotent goals goals that don't inspire them goals that don't move them
02:04:24
now in the middle of covid people don't people don't have goals their goals like will we ever get out of the house will i ever get to go to a restaurant again or to a live concert and so what's happened is your goals affect you whatever they are if they're if they're painful if they're boring if they're not inspiring you're not inspired how many know what i'm talking about right now say aye if you get it say i perfect so now think of this we need a compelling future but right now like you know if john f
02:04:56
kennedy was here he's like you know he's going to inspire you he's going to say listen we're going to put a man on the moon within this decade and return to the earth safely and people like people in nasa is like there's no way to do this we can't do this he's crazy but that's what a leader does he created a compelling future and then they found the way but today if you ask leaders what's the compelling future in most countries what is it to get back to normal and most of them aren't even talking about that so no one's inspired and then you keep people at home and you're
02:05:26
wondering why they're getting angry on both the left and on the right it doesn't matter both sides are angry they're tired of this stuff there's no compelling future your job my friends listen to me now your job in life the most important job is to constantly create a compelling future how can you do that when things look dark well one way you can do it is remember the dark times don't last just like you know winter doesn't last just like the night doesn't last it's followed by the day winter's followed by spring and if you were god when you set it up that way how cool is that that means
02:05:57
there's always something compelling coming even what's that old burnt out phrase it's always darkest before the dawn why are phrases like that so overused because they're true we get tired of hearing it but it's really true so we need to create a compelling future and this week one of the days we're going to help you enhance that a little bit and today we'll plant some seeds on it as well but the most powerful force of all is the base outside the circle if you've got a compelling future you'll do something to make your body stronger because you know you need to you'll change your focus you'll change your
02:06:28
language there's a reason to there's something i'm here to deliver create make happen by the way if your compelling future is more than just you if it's something you want to do for your family or your community or the planet the larger your vision the more people will help you and the more inspired you'll get as well and by the way like i said yesterday you've got to have small steps along the way towards your big one as well so you really get there but the one that controls it all is what we started this conversation with identity identity identity shapes all your choices let's go put it back up it goes underneath that circle
02:07:00
that's the base the identity it's like what you really are going to do is what you believe and what you believe is who you are so if we shift shift identity we can literally shift anything so right now let's take an example there's uh the gentleman yesterday someone remind me the gentleman yesterday who was in the movie business and remember he had that explosion uh i asked my team were you able to find him is he out there because i wanted to ask him a question related to this so you guys could see an example did we find them yeah it sounds like they did if you can
02:07:32
find them let's bring them back up just one second guys just do whatever you're doing before i showed up create some energy in your body ladies and gentlemen his name was scott if i remember it was scott is it there he is give it up for scott and nancy scott i'm putting you on the spot again buddy because i just loved your sharing yesterday and as i was doing this this morning i was thinking about you know i can if i put this on a board and i explain it to all of you in a normal live
02:08:05
seminar we got time so we do example after example you do it yourself everybody knows it but in this short little time i thought maybe we could use an example they already saw so you tell me i want you all to watch what he did because i want you to see there is a pattern for people that succeed even when they're blinded even when they lose use of arms or legs even if they're born with thalutamide like the young lady we acknowledged yesterday or they have an accident where they sell you never walk or talk again the people that actually walk and talk again do something very different than everybody else so i didn't ask you any
02:08:37
details but let me ask you when it first happened and they told you you know you're never going to walk again you're never going to talk again scott what did you do in your head what was your first response and then what did you do so my first response was good for you hey everybody give him a hand for that for starters they're like he owned it right so i want you to see the first thing he did is he did not let the external world control him he decides his internal world what's
02:09:07
going to be true that's the mark of a leader by the way everybody's a leader a follower there's nothing wrong being a follower you can follow and learn from all kinds of people but when you lead where it matters most is when it comes to your health when it comes to your children and how they're going to be raised when it comes to your spiritual beliefs and when it comes to your finances you can let lots of people coach you but you better decide because if they make a mistake you're broke they make a mistake your kids are messed up they make a mistake you're ill or dead so he took back his authority by the way
02:09:37
he's just so you know his warrior just showed up in that moment right maybe he's sovereign as well all right his king do you does that ring true for you scott i'm curious absolutely 100 so it's continue so then what'd you do in your head so the next thing was really what action could i take to you know go build my balance back build being able to walk a straight line or speak a sentence that was clear um and and finding those
02:10:11
actions and then along with my support team who took me for a walk every day yep rebuilt myself yep tell me this what was the identity within you that says i'm going to walk again where does that come from what is that thought process because most people when an authority tells them something they comply we can see that right now all of the world if you would have told me a year ago that you could shut everybody in the world into their homes and most countries in the world they would just
02:10:41
comply when they're healthy and give up their business their life and everything i would have said no way in a million years but it's amazing what fear will do coming from an authority right most people comply so you clearly have a different identity tell me who you are if i said scott who are you without filtering first thoughts and don't try to do the right thing who are you i'm going to ask you that several times you'll tell me the next thing it pops in your head who are you i'm what love i couldn't hear him
02:11:11
say it one more time how are you spelling it oh i'm love i'm sorry i'm love okay there's an echo in here i apologize so i'm love okay who else are you i am i'm a husband good and by the way that role because he has that as part of his identity he's going to be a good husband because he holds that as important some people like they may be married but they don't think of himself as a husband and their behavior is different right who else are you i am i'm a father good i am i'm a learner very nice by the way did
02:11:48
that play a role in his capacity to re-learn and use his body and voice when they said no of course it did i am another one i am nothing yeah very nice i am who were you when you thought about i'm gonna walk again i am what everything hmm see look at the difference there so i want you to notice these identities help guide him i'm a father right i'm a husband right i'm a force of nature there's a little bit of what he's really figured out how
02:12:22
to be in the end look at his wife nodding her head there on that one right and a big smile on his face because i can see that in him that identity allowed him to create a compelling future when no one else would is that true yes yes and he did he started immediately creating what can i do i'm going to get back to this and then what are the steps i'm going to do so he created a compelling future using his identity by the way did you train your physiology to get strong yes what did you do to train your physiology what did you do to train your focus and what did you keep telling
02:12:52
yourself so for my physiology i use what i call adventure therapy and tony it used to be rappelling down hundred foot waterfalls wow and it became taking five steps wow i give him a hand for that guys is that not inspiring you're awesome scott get my hand for that you guys you guys remember yesterday when i said what do people think makes the most happy when the lottery what they think would be the worst thing is quadriplegic and i told you they end up paying the same happiness three to four years later
02:13:25
because the quadriplegic starts to get excited about the five steps or the movement of a finger and the person with all the money is just pissed off all the time that people want something from them so it's not our external world that determines our life our internal world brother and you're such a perfect role model right now if i was putting that circle behind his head when people speak that's what i do i listen i listen to see do they have a compelling first i look at their body i listen to what they're focusing on the words they use that tells me why they're feeling what they're feeling right now but then i look to see do they have what it takes to be able to change this do
02:13:56
have they created a compelling future or not something to look forward to anyone can deal with a horrible today if we have a compelling tomorrow but if you don't have a compelling tomorrow that's when people get depressed that's when they get overwhelmed they get stressed and write this down my friends all of you i must participate in my own rescue you can't wait for someone to come by and create a compelling future for you it's not going to happen right one of the craziest words ronald reagan said years ago he said one of the biggest lies on earth is somebody comes to you and says i'm from the government and i'm here to
02:14:27
help so you got to create your own compelling future not look for the government to do it who's with me on this say i i i remember i went i went down the colorado river and i was going down a place called lava falls it's one of the most dangerous falls people die there all the time and i'm going down there and the instructor came out and there's all these guys are all kings of their kingdoms these are you know very famous men from all over in entertainment heads of studios so it's a real guy's trip and the guy gets up and he says i don't hear any from you guys
02:14:58
he said you must participate in your own rescue if you fall out of this thing no one's going to rescue you better rescue yourself so the way we rescue ourselves is come up with a compelling future and that might be hard unless there's a part of you that knows no matter what's happened in life here i still am no matter what's happened i've found a way to get through it no matter what's happened i find a way to get back to a better place and if you can tap into some portion of that identity or take one on you can create a compelling future now you're going to use your body strong you're going to focus on what matters
02:15:28
you're going to use the right language what did you focus on during this time and what did you say to yourself consistently i'm curious so i really focused on really my son and my wife that's really where it went because by the way now i want you to see this guys it's such a i couldn't ask for more perfect example who was the first thing he said he was love what got him through it and pulled him through it love of those he loves most more than himself because we'll all do more for those we love than we'll even do for
02:16:04
ourselves that's the beauty of being human that's what it means to be humane is that you go beyond yourself the weakness in our society right now social medias train us all technology to expect everybody should be the way i am right now instead of humanity which is they have a different point of view i don't agree with it but we don't have to fight over it we can agree to disagree or i can try to understand why they believe that but notice what pulled them through was a compelling future being able to be there with his family not be a burden be able to be strong
02:16:34
again what did you imagine being able to do with your child and with your wife back in those days that you wanted to get to uh really getting back to rock climbing and jumping out of airplanes and going scuba diving and you know the things that bring me joy and by the way check this out most people are told you're never going to walk again or talk again don't start visualizing sky diving wall climbing scuba diving and all those things that's why most people don't heal
02:17:05
i want you all to hear this it's not a hundred percent i'm not saying if you didn't heal you didn't do your part psychologically that's total but it is true that your psychological emotional factors play a role if i give you easy evidence of it in every major country in the world where they've studied this when the holidays come in nursing homes there are people a significant number of people depends which study you read somewhere between 30 and 50 percent of people they think are going to die at the beginning of summer make it through
02:17:36
to january and then they die they make it through a compelling future of seeing their family seeing their grandkids being around there that's the power do you know that human beings live 24 hours a day around the world and animals die every hour of every day on an average ratio other than if there's like a you know uh uh what do you call it a drought or something like that without an external environment animals die throughout the day and night
02:18:07
equally throughout time humans are unique we are dying one day of the week more than any other day anybody guess what day that is monday monday and we die on one hour on monday more than any other hour between eight and nine a.m it's like people like effort i'm tired of the i'm out of here it's not compelling right it's just like we have to realize our minds and emotions are connected to our bodies our bodies are connected to mind and emotions
02:18:38
if we use all three effectively and we make it compelling and remember that we're more than anything can happen to us we can make miracles happen so put the miracle man and his wife back up there and let's just acknowledge these two beautiful souls thank you for sharing this with us you guys are gorgeous thank you and you know what scott you and your lady there i want to invite you guys to come unleash the power within as my guest so you stick around let the team know i'm gonna have you come to the live event you stick around you're awesome give it up bob stand up and stretch
02:19:10
everybody stand up break your energy stand up come on wake your body up let me hear you make some noise [Applause] high fives around you if someone's there
02:19:55
otherwise do it virtually come on now a little sip of water [Applause] all right in your chair create more energy for 30 seconds go [Music]
02:20:32
oh there you are yes now how many are starting to see the power of identity how whatever we identify with we become and we live that way how many start and understand this if it's making sense say aye you know what about 80 85 percent of you understand own your own business and others of you manage or lead people or you're a parent so you got to understand that identity also is the most powerful
02:21:13
thing that influences us again you think this person's your dear friend and they mess up they're having a bad day you think they're a jerk and they treat you nice they're manipulating so you're not your experience of people is not them it's your beliefs about them it's the identity you hold for them so some people you may have seen them do something stupid or dumb and then gotten mad or angry and then labeled in that way and you keep holding them that way and so you find it because you look for browns so you find something beige in them and you call it brown
02:21:43
or you look for red and you find burgundy it's close enough and you call it that and we're all controlled by our perceptions our perceptions control who we are what we're willing to do our perceptions control the way we interact with other people so now i think you understand why this is so important but i want you to remember these five to thrive if you're feeling like crap you're bored you're frustrated you're sad first thing you should do change your physiology radically go on a run go to walk with some weights jump in a freezing cold shower do anything to sing do anything to dance
02:22:13
anything to radically change your state and now your brain will start to function differently your focus will change automatically but you can also direct your focus you can look for what's right instead of what's wrong you can look for what you have instead of what's missing you can focus on what you can control versus what you can't you can take in what's beautiful in this moment or you can figure out what's going to be beautiful because you're going to make it that way how many follow this so far say i and you can develop some new phrases some new words some new questions like one of my favorite questions is what's great about this
02:22:44
someone tells me the worst in the planet and not being a positive thinker i just know i need to balance it out so this what's great about cove and i asked you guys that yesterday how many found blessings in kovalev there's lots of stuff that was a pain in the ass are painful but blessings because we write this down you get what you look for and what you look for is controlled by your physical state your focus and your patterns of language but if you want to get yourself to follow through create a compelling future that's why we got together this week is it making sense now
02:23:14
new world new you that means for this new world you'd expand your identity you got to be the kind of person that goes you can shut me in you can shut me down you can try everything you want to do but i'm still going to have a great time i'm still going to add value i'm still going to make this happen what the hell do you think is why i'm with you right now because when they told me none of this would work nothing as dramatic as my friend scott there they didn't tell me i can't walk they didn't tell me i couldn't talk again but the same thing in me is like this is i am made to serve people need this i know i have skills that can help there
02:23:46
is a way i don't give a damn okay can't work this way this way this way there is a way and here we are finding that way so your core beliefs about who you are they need to be enhanced they need to be strengthened and they can be as simple as saying them again and again on a walk doing incantations notice it could be incantation or incantation same spelling different emphasis most people have incantations i can't do this i can't go through this anymore i can't i can't take another day of this and
02:24:16
they hypnotize themselves into less than they are and then they're in pain their physiology goes down their focus on all the they can't control and they keep saying more stuff to themself and now they want to exit by eating smoking drinking trying to watch netflix i mean nothing wrong with any of those things but they're sure as hell not going to fulfill you and they're not going to make you grow how many want to be really happy no matter what people do in the external environment who wants that joy in your life every day say i then write down what creates happiness i mentioned it yesterday i don't know if you caught it
02:24:47
progress equals happiness progress not getting things remember yesterday you get something you're excited how long not a year not 10 years maybe a week a month maybe six months i don't know most people it's more like a few days or a few hours or a few weeks because it's not about getting it it's about growing that's why we got to keep making progress and when we grow guys we have something to give and when you can give to those you love when you can give to friends or family or even to a stranger something
02:25:19
meaningful it changes your life because it makes your life have meaning beyond just you getting what you want and that's what most people are missing in their life so this also controls the perception of your kids towards you you towards your kids but it also affects you in business so let's do a little business lesson in the middle of this as well so you see how important it is when we talk about this in business we call it as branding a brand shapes how people perceive you if you have no brand people know who the
02:25:49
hell you are some people have a negative brand attached to them you know donald trump for some people is a real positive brand for other people it's a horrific brand depends on their perception their experience but it affects the way perceive him people that think he's great very often can't see him do anything wrong people think he's bad can't they see him doing anything good they ignore it they pretend it's not there they're both sides are exaggerating he's human he screws up he can be a terrible communicator he can do some really great things so your brand affects it all so let's talk about your brand just for a second
02:26:20
because i i said i was gonna do two hours i'm getting closer already holy cow okay let's do this real quick i want to give you an assignment so this will come to life for you here's what i want you to do take out a pen and paper or your computer your ipad just for a second sit up in your chair in your chair create some energy in your chair make sure you don't lose that energy ladies and gentlemen make some noise
02:26:49
all right so write down real fast i want you just write it down answer to three questions let's do a real simple fast i want you to think of a large computer company write down the first brand you think of large computer company big computer coming and then i want you to think of um i think it was soft drink company first soft drink company comes to your mind jot that down all right and then i want you to think of a search engine the name of a search engine first one that pops in your mind
02:27:23
okay everybody got it when you write those three down so computer company software company a search engine all right all right look up on the screen stop writing if you got it and by show hands i want you yeah i see many of you writing it down so that's good that even helps me see in the chat but let's start with the first one put up on the screen for people how many of you thought of apple as the company when you first started raise your hand nice and high keep your hands up nice and high look around the room keep your hand up if you thought of it it's about 80 percent maybe 85 percent of the
02:27:56
people raising their hand in this virtual room around the world how many of you thought of throwing up there hewitt packard or dell hewitt packard or dell either one and notice you know no one's pushing their button for enthusiasm either i noticed on this one you guys have got those apps are playing it but no one's playing anything they're not hearing one sound of enthusiasm and there's about i don't know 10 of the people one company dominates in this space completely dominates they are the brand that people think of what would be like if when people
02:28:27
thought of your industry they thought of you that would be really pretty cool let's try another one how many fought when i said of a soft drink company how many thought of coca-cola raise your hand if you thought of coca-cola keep your hands up look around the room now we're about 90 about 90 of people are picking one company out of hundreds of software companies around the world hundreds one ninety percent how many of you thought of pepsi raise your hand no enthusiasm and only a few
02:29:01
total domination in this space that coke doesn't just sell coke they sell water because it's even more profitable they just put it through a filter and everybody else there their goal is to own eighty percent of the ounces of fluid that you consume in a day if you're a citizen on earth that's their goal pretty wild they dominate completely if i said look for a search engine how many of you instantly thought google raise your hand if you thought google keep your hand up so i can see we're like this one's like 98
02:29:34
of the people are raising their hand for one company and there's more than 35 different search engines how many of you thought instead of yahoo raise your hand if you thought of yahoo okay two drunk people no just kidding right who who owned search in the beginning it was yahoo if you remember google didn't know it yahoo owed it completely they dropped the ball now people say google it they don't say search it they have literally become the term they
02:30:05
use this pisses off yahoo how about bing anybody out there usually not if you fought a bing okay one man wearing a microsoft shirt okay good you better think of being sir you're about the only person nobody goes to being so the point here is what if you could develop a way so that when people thought of your industry they thought of you first pretty awesome advantage wouldn't it be and you go oh tony but i can't afford to advertise like coke or google or something like that
02:30:35
you don't have to starbucks built their reputation with virtually no advertising for the first seven or eight years what did they do they created an environment they found a a model you know he went overseas he was in italy and the chairman of starbucks now chairman of starbucks looked out and he saw these restaurants these little coffee shops but they're like american coffee shops american coffee shops you went and paid a quarter and you got a multiple cups if you wanted to 50 cents a buck this was super expensive stuff but he
02:31:07
noticed something else it was like a guilty pleasure like they're giving something luxurious for a couple bucks but also he saw people wanted a transition before they went to work and before they came home the other transition was a bar and less people drank so he found a location for you to decompress between these two locations and he built an entire business on it with almost no advertising he got word of mouth to do it he found a way to meet people's needs and it built this brand
02:31:38
but there are many people today they'll say to me pass me the kleenex and the people with scot tissue hate that because they go it's tissue it's not kleenex or someone will say will you fedex this for me the people at ups hate that if they go it's not fedex and it's overnighted we do it cheaper better faster but they own the industry ray jan if you know what i'm talking about here say i so if you and i want to enhance our life if we want to enhance our business we
02:32:08
need to enhance our brand we should start with ourselves so how are we going to do it let me give you five steps because i'm almost out of time here i want to keep my word on the time here that you need to go through to build your brand okay for your business or your life and by the way if you don't know when you're in business you still have a brand like the people that get the bonuses the people that move up organizationally have a very different brand you might be just as skilled you might be just as committed but they're branded as being superior in some way they found a way to get in
02:32:40
people's mind have them think about them a certain way and that's why they go up so whether you own a business or not same steps so here are the steps number one in order for you to really build a brand or expand your brand or identity you gotta understand the power of identity the power of brand and i hope today's brief session almost two hours already has given you that how many really get that my identity controls the way i think the way i feel what i'll do or not do and it affects the way other people interact with me if you get that a hundred percent
02:33:10
make some noise and say i say i great so i think we got it across to you the second step for you once you understand the power of true identities you've got to identify and articulate what is your competitive advantage in other words why should i do business with you versus someone else why should i fall in love with you versus someone else there's branding there too if you're a parent why should i listen to you instead of my friends and my teachers right why why should i do what do you
02:33:42
bring to the table what is your competitive advantage for certain if it's in business so if i asked you that right now let's grab somebody raise your hand if you own your own business raise your own hand if you own your own business if you would okay how about we go here let's go to gosh so many great choices with so much energy there all right how about we go up here to uh jeannie roberts up there in the middle group here yeah just one over genie roberts just up above there you go give it up for genie roberts ladies and
02:34:13
gentlemen for god's sakes genie can you hear me yes i can where are you in the world in sweden sweden give it up for sweden ladies and gentlemen [Music] [Applause] and who is that gentleman in the back watching you so carefully that's my husband good okay so tell me what business you're in and tell me why should i do business with you oh nice to meet your daughter what's your name nice to meet you how old are you you wanna show me with fingers okay she's getting shot
02:34:58
so tell me what business you're in g7 okay what business are you in and why should i buy from you versus someone else why should i do business with you versus someone else okay because i'm a beauty therapist and i create a really really good result for you so that you can live in your skin really comfortably okay raise your hand up okay so i'm gonna i'm gonna be totally unfair to you because customers are around here right so i'm gonna ask the audience raise your hand if that answer sold you
02:35:29
to want to seek her out raise your hand okay i want you to look around at the people around so you can see what percentage and it's you know it's about three percent one percent so what that says is and by the way i believe you're sincere i believe you believe what you're telling me but what you're telling me doesn't come across unique enough for me to go oh my gosh i need this do you follow me so your brand is not strong enough yet you need to figure out how to articulate what you're going to do like in most people in business will say things like because we i give great service and they go you
02:36:01
know in their head they go everybody says they give great service so one way to do this is to communicate in an example or in a way where people can get it so you could say i've worked for the last i'm making this up this is completely wrong but to just try and stimulate your brain i've been working for the last 18 years with people from 35 to 55 who run into this situation and i can tell you that over that time usually it takes me maximum three sessions two sessions to eliminate that problem move them forward
02:36:32
and so anyone who has that issue i know i can help and if that's your issue let's move forward now i'm making it up it's completely wrong but it's got right it's got specificity to it because when you make a generalization like you'll be more comfortable in your own skin you know lots of people use phrases like that and there's no real evidence what you're saying so i'm not correcting you i hope you know where i'm coming from i just want you and everyone to see that if i put anybody in this position and i could do 10 more we're not for time's sake most people kind of stumble on this because we
02:37:03
because you probably do lots of things for people lots of beautiful things but you got to bring it down to something core because a brand is a concept it's a phrase it's a set of emotions or it's one example that people go okay i get it and it moves them forward so for you you understand the power of identity or brand now now your job is start to actually practice why should somebody do business with someone else and write multiple ways and then test them on your husband test them on some friends test them on some of your clients say
02:37:34
i'm trying to figure out articulate this better what would you say so it's not just your burden to do this on your own you can refine it because once you find it i have a friend jay abraham he's one of the most genius marketing guys in the world been around 45 years worked with thousands of companies from every industry and he will practice like in a furniture store he'll have them come up with 35 different ways to greet people when they come in and one way will triple sales it's ridiculous he tried 30 of them they didn't do much
02:38:04
differently it's the one way and everybody like responds that's why i want all of you to find for yourself in a little practice so give her a hand thank you for sharing we really appreciate it love to you in sweden and your whole family give it up for ladies and gentlemen [Applause] so let's do this just for a moment just for a moment take out your notepad your ipad your paper and pen your computer whatever you got
02:38:34
and i'm just going to give you four and a half minutes because while you're in state let's start to refine this this doesn't need to be perfect what i want you to do is describe why should i do business with you versus someone else or if you're not owner of a business why should i hire you from versus someone else why should i promote you versus someone else what do you bring to the table that's unique and special and different and some of you go i don't know how to do this get out of that get strong get in your body get strong always start with your body make it strong
02:39:05
make some noise so you feel strong ladies and gentlemen come on now i'll put a little music on in the background right as fast as you can and you can write it multiple times well let me try another one let me try another one why should i buy from you why should i do business with you why should i hire you why should i give you a raise why should i listen to you as a parent versus somebody else you can pick whatever context you want but describe it and refine it four and a half minutes go
02:39:50
so why should i do business with you versus someone else why should i hire you for someone else i should give you a raise or move you up versus someone else if you're my parent why should i listen to you versus other people becky blake i see your chat on this beautiful once you get it if you want to put it in the chat you're welcome to you don't
02:42:03
have to but you're welcome to alexandra you should work with me because i'm someone that has lived through this and come through it all i've got answers because i've lived it and i practice it nice i like we build relationships before we build houses nice job for that construction company nice jennifer medina nice and darren thanks giselle richard stoneberg well done
02:43:27
i see that gizelle taz and jane i like it john graffiti i like it you got about two minutes left take another stab at it try some other language what would make it more compelling step in the shoes the other person what could you tell them specifically you'll do more for them than anyone else what will you do better for them and why can they believe that's true what's the what's the proof what's the social proof it doesn't need to be perfect just come up with something that's compelling
02:44:35
you can refine this later but come up with something you like it's like yeah that makes more sense [Music] if you've already got this for your business let me give you a second assignment for two more minutes just two more minutes write down who were you what was your old identity when you weren't following through when you were like think of something you weren't doing that you wanted to do that you needed to do give yourself how would i describe my old identity
02:45:12
when i wasn't following through and who am i really at my core who am i really the person who will follow through the person will make it happen so what was my old identity when i didn't follow through what's my new identity for 2021 that i'm going to follow through with go to that as your second assignment you've got another two and a half minutes go for it [Music] someone write down the second assignment form as well [Music] yes i'll repeat it again if you finish
02:45:49
the first assignment got room real quickly write down think of a time when you didn't follow through recently on things you needed to who was that person describe what was the identity of yourself not following through i was being lazy i was i was looking at the obstacles instead of the solutions whatever my energy was low and then describe the identity of who you're going to become now the person that'll follow through what do they believe what do they think how do they live so describe the old personality and the new personality
02:46:19
the old identity the one that you're going to have for 2021 going forward here we go [Music] [Music] the old identity was my new identity is
02:47:07
two minutes left two minutes alexandra i like that i'm a giver in love with her clients always learning to serve them grow [Music] i'm made to serve i like it marnie [Music] who were you who are you really today who will you be this year and moving forward gold was blaming the world for stealing my son for me now the news i'm creating a world where i can have that love be alive
02:47:47
nice man nice thank you yes just like the one that gave you i was busy making excuses now i'm the conqueror nice i like that one my old identity was what when this happened my new identity going forward is what who am i now who am i really who am i at my best who am i gonna commit to awakening with me it's already inside you but you're gonna awaken that part of you that stronger part that playful part that courageous part
02:48:22
the bold part the loving part i really love what you guys are writing in the chat box guys you're doing great my old identity was i felt this i thought this i believe this my new identity is i believe this i know this i feel what i do what this is really good guys really good great job old identity new identity and if you get if you got 30 seconds left what does your new identity create when you live this new identity what will you create
02:49:06
what will you make happen this year what will you enjoy more of my old danny was this i felt this way i believe these things my new identity is this i know this i feel this i express this and then what does that create what does your new identity make happen what does it make possible this year [Music] my old identity was i used to believe this i used to feel this i used to not do this my new identity is i know this to be
02:49:47
true i know this is what i'm going to feel i know this is what i'm going to give or create and then what does that do to your life how does it improve your life the new identity [Music] about one minute left [Music] no to be the mother my son deserves me to be very nice my old identity was my new identity is my new identity creates what
02:50:22
30 seconds [Music] all right stand up if you would real fast stand up so your body's back strong again stand up shake your body out now here's what i want you shake it out wake your body up wake it up for a second here create some energy make some noise switch the music come on
02:51:08
[Music] so [Music] okay [Music] yes now to help you we're doing this really fast i normally i'd have you share your identities you'd practice sharing it with somebody seeing how they react but i'm out of time so we're gonna do two things real quick just to kind of get in your body shake your body out stay standing somebody sitting down stay
02:51:44
standing just for a moment if you would please because when you sit down nothing wrong with sitting down but if you want to create a change and you sit down you've cut off half the blood flow so you want to stand up so you're using everything okay now here's what i want you to do think about old identity and it's in your notes so while you're standing you can look it down at it or you can just remember what you said the old identity that wasn't getting you the result i want you to say it out loud even if somebody's not there like my old identity was i was getting frustrated so easily i was overwhelmed i was letting
02:52:13
watching the news let it control me and i was feeling frustrated or sad or depressed or impotent and stuff and i wasn't following through and then give a nickname to that identity that you would either despise or would make you laugh because it's not who you are really like that was that was like dumb that was weak ass that was whatever it is give it a nickname that you kind of disassociate from how many can do this how many come up with a silly name or a weird name and you don't want to be that
02:52:44
so here's what you just once out loud i want to say my old identity was and talk like like a dumb cell like oh this and this and this and this and that's so and so and then step aside from it go ahead try that one time my old identity was i'm this way i felt this i believe this i couldn't accomplish this and then give it a nickname that was who who was that person it's not you who is it charlie crazy one weird one whatever right
02:53:15
now stand tall breathe strong and right now just for a second imagine you were filled with energy your body had more energy you ever felt you were filled with energy joy and excitement and make this sound like a little kid if you're filled with energy joy and excitement go make it up [Music] that's it make some noise while you're doing it [Applause] there you go
02:53:57
now just make a strong move like yes try it say yes yes yes now say my new true identity is and describe it if you want to look at your notes for a second but just subscribe but my new identity is i don't take no for an answer my new identity as i push through my new identity is i don't feel like i do it anyway my do any identity is boldness or playfulness i'm going to feel this i'm going to believe this just go on a rant and at the end of it
02:54:28
who are you going to call this person because he you want to you know i often ask people how do you make your dog your dog you name them and you're training to come when you call and that's what you got to do with this identity so first go on a rant with excitement say my new identity is i'm a person who believes this a person who feels this person who does this the person's going to make this happen and then say that person is and give it a name go ahead give it a shot
02:54:59
come on there you go my new identity is a person who is that's it that's it good good good that's it perfect perfect all right what's the name of your new identity stay standing for a second type in the chat box my old identity give me the name new identity just giving the names unstoppable iron lady miracle titan queen courage beloved next level mamba sunshine
02:55:39
superstar perfect joy oh that was the other one beatrice wonder woman kick ass james bond awesome one worthy one okay that's good we got plenty so what you want to practice is snapping so do this last part use your body the way you would in your old identity what's the physiology of your old identity when you're in that state and you're feeling those emotions what do you do with your shoulders what are your gestures like how do you talk and as you're doing it say this is and say the name of that person this is that person
02:56:11
and then do this girl that is not me step over here and get strong again get really strong immediately make the sound use your body move your body come on go for it right now some sound let's do it let's do it let's do it [Music] make the sound of your new identity make the sound of your new identity [Music]
02:56:52
oh yes okay grab a seat owning your new identity as you're sitting down so you feel like that person you're not sitting down and giving up you're sitting down the command chair of your life okay now to finish up how many now feel the you understand the power of identity you're actually starting to experience a little bit in your body here if you can feel that a little bit say i when you step into a different physiology a different pattern of focus a different pattern of language if you give it a name you can bring that energy back anytime
02:57:24
you want if you disassociate from what you were and own who you are just as a practice i was now i am i was now i am that's programming your mind once your mind locks that in you won't have to do you'll just be that person i am tony robbins i created this man it's me but i shaped me to be the man i am today to have the courage and the boldness and the push through and determination those weren't muscles that were just born with i had to develop those muscles but i did it by making it my identity
02:57:55
and the same thing is true in your business as a brand so by the way most people make this mistake and this is where you can harm yourself so wake up to this so you don't do it anymore we judge ourselves by what we do but people do dumb ass things who's done a dumb ass thing in the past more than once so you hope nobody knows say i today we live in this gotcha culture somebody says something or does something they don't agree with it oh my god they're a horrible person forever such let's say in the bible about throwing
02:58:25
stones living in glass houses so let that just disappear and step into who you are now i'll give you an example though of how this was used how people use this to manipulate during the korean war more american pows turned against their own country and collaborated with the communist chinese and in uh in that country the challenge chinese were their partners in korea and north korea than any time in any war in human history american history
02:58:56
and instead of being upset with the pows they want to figure out how do they do that because pows are trained soldiers are trained name rank and serial number you don't tell them anything else even if they torture you and traditionally you can torture someone enough they'll give it up but it doesn't change them into a collaborator how did they do that is actually really simple the communist chinese took over their those north korean prisons and they developed a completely different technique to influence they did not beat they did not abuse
02:59:26
these prisoners they did something very subtle they bring them in for questioning and they do a 20 hour sometimes 24 hours of questioning they wear the person down but they wouldn't beat him up and they wouldn't offer him some giant reward if somebody gives you a giant reward like you haven't been able to eat for days that are going to give you this giant meal you might say because you justify in your head i had to to survive or if they're beating you to death you might give them information but
02:59:58
your identity wouldn't change just go i had to or i would have died but they did something very different they talked to you and talked to you and talked to you for hours and hours and they were nice they were warm they weren't meat they didn't beat you and they didn't offer you some giant solution but as you got worn out they just looked to get you to make a small action and then another small action another and they knew if they got enough small actions you would change your own identity without even knowing it here's how they did it they'd eventually get you to say you never say anything against your country
03:00:30
but they'd eventually get you to say well you at least acknowledge that america is not perfect and after 20 hours of doing this the guy's exhausted hasn't eaten everything else he's okay america's not perfect okay write that down number like write it down it's the truth you said it's the truth america's not perfect okay and is it true that in communist countries like ours unemployment's not a problem because everybody can have a job and he goes i don't know that's true because i'm telling you look we all have jobs so eventually he writes that
03:01:00
after hours and hours and hours and days and days the guy will have the equivalent of 10 or 15 statements that attack his own country in his own handwriting and acknowledge communism and he can't justify it by saying they beat me or they gave me something it's just like and then here's what they do they put them in a discussion group with other people and read their essays or they'd send them back their cell and they would read the person's essay over the loudspeaker to all the other prisoners and the prisoners would come american soldiers go did you say that why the hell did you say that did they beat you where the
03:01:32
marks no more they didn't beat me well did they give you so no they didn't give me anything then why'd you do it all of a sudden something happens in the middle of it and he goes because it's true and in that moment they own them now by making small commitments of action that they couldn't explain any other way they said well this is what i really believe and they got them to share so remember what i said we're not our behaviors but if you want to build your identity you can also do it by getting yourself to do things that's why we do the wood breaking or the skydiving
03:02:03
or the fire walking and things those are just simple examples but you can do anything that's outside the way you would normally behave and it'll expand your identity so here's the steps to wrap it up and i'll give you one last example here and then i'll give you assignment because i'm over again sorry i'm just don't try to keep this in line okay so here are the five steps i started to give you thrown back up on the screen first we said to build a strong identity or a strong brand in business you understand the true power of identity how many got that today for sure like you're really locked into it say i
03:02:34
number two you've got to start to identify and articulate what is your competitive advantage why should people do business with you why should they hire you why should they promote you why should they do business with your company why should your kids listen to you and you gotta articulate write it keep rewriting it to you come up something was compelling how many because i didn't get to ask you because of time but how many have already come up with something that's pretty compelling more compelling than what you normally say raise your hand if you got something say i perfect third now you really got to start practicing
03:03:05
communicating that it's one thing to write it down it's another rehearse doing enough time so that when you're with somebody you don't have to think about it you can just communicate it and spend your time connecting with them you don't have to think about the words you've thought through the words you've practiced it right fourth now you got to really live it because if you say this is what you're about and you don't live it you're not going to have much of a brand right you got to live it you got to put yourself on the line and living it just making yourself do some things that are uncomfortable will expand your identity this week can expand your identity if you really
03:03:36
wanted to right so you live it you push yourself you get outside your comfort zone and lastly number five you got to market it meaning even if it's with your kids you got to market it if it's with business you got to get it out there so that people want people that want what you're offering start to look for you that's what marketing is now we'll talk more about this on the business day i don't know if that's tomorrow the next day i think it might be tomorrow but we're going to touch on this in more depth later on but i just want to give you one example so let's say let's say you're a real estate agent
03:04:06
and you're saying tony how the hell am i going to build a brand i don't have the money to build this national brand but you don't need a national brand if you're in real estate you need a brand in the community you work right so it's much easier to achieve but not by just spending a bunch of money because when you spend a bunch of money people go well yeah of course you're going to promote yourself in your own ad don't get me wrong there are ads that are needed and so forth but i want to give you an example i can remember years ago when i was like 18 19 years old 20 years old i was
03:04:36
in stanford i was up in los angeles and i was working with a bunch of realtors and people i was just a young kid and i met a kid his name was mike glickman and mike was passionate about real estate when mike was a young kid he decided want to be a real estate agent that was his passion in life he just want to light people up help him find the home they want and he wanted to work in a high-end community in l.a there's a community there called encino california it's kind of an upscale community and mike's this young kid and he wasn't even old enough to drive a car and he wanted to be in real estate
03:05:08
well of course you can't be a real estate salesman you can't sign contracts until you're over 18. so when he was 16 and 17 even before he had a car he'd use his bike and in those days before the internet people used to make these booklets of homes for sale they distribute them you know near coffee shops and things and so a guy hired him to go take his bike and eventually his car and go deliver all these so he least felt like he was getting in the real estate game finally turns 18 gets in real estate decides his farm that's what they call it real estate the area he's going to network the area he's going to work
03:05:38
you know the geographical area the number of streets is in encino this high-end area and he thinks he's going to set the world on fire because he's really a good guy and he's got a good heart and he's really committed he loves real estate he loves people but his first year he sells zero zero why he's broke he's on commission he can't sell anything because he's really young he's 18 years old and he looks like he's 16 and he couldn't articulate why buy from me versus someone else and so people one look at him he can't articulate it i need somebody with more experience
03:06:09
they may not always tell him that but he wouldn't get the listings didn't get the sales and we're having this conversation saying like how do you turn this around because i was really young too like how do i and i realized the way i was going to build my brand was results robin's equals results i'm going to go challenge psychiatrists and psychologists and i'm gonna take the patient they've been working with for seven years and i'm gonna handle it one hour and get rid of their phobia one hour turn around that's how i built my career in the beginning so i said you need to do something because people know by what you do not by what you say
03:06:40
how your lips move don't mean squat if you want to know tony robbins is you can see how my feet my lips and my wallet and my being has moved for 44 years it's not hard to figure out who i am so i said in the beginning though you got to demonstrate who you are because well i don't have a lot of money to do advertising i said i don't think you should i think you should figure out something to do for your community you're not just doing it for marketing you're doing it because it matters you're doing it because you sincerely care because people will feel when it's real you can all we all have large meters today right
03:07:12
you can sense when somebody's just selling you or they maybe they're selling you something but they're not trying to sell you it's just they know it's true this is really that good and you can feel the difference i said so find something you can do consistently or something big you can do for your community and do the right thing and your brand will grow and to his credit i don't know how many months it was months later we had another conversation he goes tony i think i may have figured this out i said what what did you figure out he goes there's a trash strike right now i'm sure you've seen on television
03:07:43
the trash union went on strike and he goes tony you know i walk through and i drive through my farm and it's filthy if this trash strike went on i think at this point have been like six weeks so you know one week and your trash doesn't get picked up it builds up imagine six weeks with the trash and dogs are getting into it now rats are going into community it's a high-end community people are pissed off when they come home like why the hell will they pick up the trash this is insane they turn our community into a hole it's horrible and he goes i thought for myself you know i can't do it for everybody but
03:08:14
what if i just took my farm my community that i network and what if i hired like an outside private trash company take all their trash away and then told everybody they did it i said do it but don't tell everybody you did it because what are you talking about then why would i do it i said do it because it's right and eventually people learn without you telling them if you go and tell everybody you did it they're going to feel like it's just a promotion but if you really are feeling the way you're telling me and i really respect that then this would be an incredible service to the families that you're there for
03:08:45
he goes i don't know how much it cost i said go find out and he came back and i don't remember the number it's been so many years but i think it was like four thousand dollars but four thousand dollars for him was like you know forty thousand or four hundred thousand back then i said to him buddy you could spend four thousand dollars doing ads and no one will know who you are i said go do this but again don't tell anybody you did it now if they find out you can acknowledge it admit it but don't go out there and promote it just do the right thing and he did and look what happens within imagine you live in this community
03:09:16
every day you come home and you're angry because there's trash everywhere you live in this super upscale community and it's filthy and dogs are out there and bugs and and you're just disgusted and you come home and the trash is gone and you're like oh my god thank god the trash strike is over and you go in your house you turn on the news last night and they go the trash strike is entering its seventh week and you're going like who took my trash right and people are like the whole community going the trash strikes up how come our trash is gone who stole our trash where'd our trash go
03:09:47
everybody's talking everybody's we're trying out and eventually the information leaks out so guess what happens my buddy mike is getting phone call after phone call hey i heard you did this were you the one who did this and he said well yeah well why don't you tell us well because i didn't do it for that reason why'd you do it well i'm a realtor and i these are people's homes i can't do everything but i find i can do my part for this community i love this community i love these homes i want everybody to feel like feel a home in their home again that's hard to do and there's trash all over the place
03:10:18
oh my god why didn't i think of that how much do i owe you i want to pay my percent and i told him do not accept any money from anyone under any circumstances he goes what do i get out of it be honest say listen i didn't do it to get your money i did it for the community but you know if you ever want to list your home or sell your home or you know somebody wants to list or buy i hope you think of me four thousand dollars i'm making up the number i think it was 4 500 i forget the exact number under 5 000 no one no one sold another house over
03:10:49
the next three years except one person in three years except through this young man mike klickman mike clinton made almost a million dollars in commissions within 24 months having earned nothing because he became the brand of that community anybody's doing that i want to do it because he figured a way so you don't need to think like oh my god i know coca-cola i'm not google screw that find something you can do for the community of people you serve find sincere things you can do stack several of them don't go promote the hell out of them
03:11:20
just let people uncover it you can acknowledge it's there i guarantee you build a brand quicker that way than almost any other way you can do it does this make sense for everybody okay i have gone over again by 40 minutes 45 minutes i'm sorry but i'm not totally sorry how many has been we're worthwhile for the time and you really got a lot out of today okay stand up stand up shake your body out shake it out shake it out i'm gonna bring kk on so you're clear about your assignment and we give out our awards and then tomorrow's going to be an
