welcome back everyone for episode six of nama's journey to diamond for anyone that is just now joining we sent a terrible bronze elo player to achieve diamond in just four months with the help of skill capped last week we went over wave control and this week we're going to be talking about mechanics mechanics can mean a lot of different things but mcbaze who's the one coaching nama for this session covers a lot so get the notepads out for this one before jumping into it let's do a quick progress
00:30
update as always as you may have heard nama hit gold it did take him two attempts but he got there so what do you think will he continue to climb or will he start to struggle now that he's entered the elite competition of gold elope also we want to make it crystal clear that we do not privately coach nama all of the coaching sessions are in this course so you can follow along at home with the same information anyway now we can get into the main guide so because mechanics can apply to so
01:01
many different situations mcbaze ran through two games with nama and went over every single mistake he thought was considered mechanical and explained what the right thing to do was or why it's not as mechanical as players would think the first game is with nama on ari and we see that he walks back into lane not trying to dodge the syndra q at all now because nama didn't try to dodge it's very clear what was happening here he didn't even think syndra would be able to reach him from there so it could look like he had bad mechanics when it really just comes down
01:32
to game knowledge and knowing the ranges of every ability but how do you learn that well there is no easy answer it just comes down to playing the champions and playing against them it's all experience and practice it's a very crucial skill for laney though especially in mid lane with so many champions having skill shots anyway moving on to the next play where nama is going for a kill onto the enemy quinn who's low health and in the brush he ults in and misses his stun when she's not moving are his mechanics really this bad let's listen to what mcbaze has to say
02:03
about this one okay here we go let's see what you do so i missed my eight because i thought he's going to move up i guess i killed him he didn't even move i could i i see i see what you're talking about that's funny um but that actually brings me to a really important part of skill shots though so like this i i understand exactly what happened but something that you'll learn is that
02:36
when you have any kind of slow um like so i know you play like ori and ari i think like exclusively right you don't play like any z or anything no well any champion that has like if you have a slow like this and i'll just i'll be i'll generalize a bit for the viewers but like zed when he does his combo it slows and then you throw the shuriken a lot of people like overthink like this kind of like you think she's gonna move up
03:08
but because you slowed her with glacial literally all you have to do is put your mouse on top of her because she's so slow it doesn't matter if she tries to move right right it's gonna hit yeah and that's like it it's a tip that has helped me even with with my skill shots like just don't over think like don't think they're don't try to read it so hard and just put your mouse on top of them and it'll land alright so it's not that nama just has terrible mouse precision and missed the quint he was just expecting her to move like
03:39
anyone would but sometimes it really doesn't matter anyway moving on to the next scenario here which is a huge one for any champion with skill shots that even a lot of higher elo players don't know okay so one thing okay yeah this is a big one too i can already tell from your other clips as well so you can manipulate their movement very very easily and it's one of the core concepts of playing re this applies to all skill shot champs but ari especially
04:11
so if if this was me on ari my first dash would not have been like this and the reason for that is dashing like this is going to make syndra move down now her moving down is is like okay but it's not i i would rather confine her to a to the smaller area and to do that
04:41
you want to i would dash like this first thing i would do is dash this way like my mouse is showing like this to here because if you dash one way or just walk one way it's just naturally like human reaction to go the other way so she wouldn't have dodged down and she would have went up another reason why that's good is because you doing this dashing to the side the way i'm saying you doing it and knowing the concept now that can
05:16
easily like that's gonna let you land it easier because you know you're manipulating her movement next time does that make sense yeah instead of it just being like kind of random here what she does like you dash in like straight at her like this it could be kind of random where she goes doesn't go in any direction yeah but if you dash to the side 100 sheet goes to the other way and then you just land a free chunk so even with that play turning out just fine with nama getting the kill the concept is still incredibly important and will get him and you guys way more kills in other scenarios
05:47
moving on again to here where mcbaze talks about another very very important concept when it comes to getting better mechanically you see how just like watch how many times you click in starting from like right here watch how many times you click while moving up [Music] like two two times maybe two or three times like walking forward into a dangerous position the more the more you click the and the closer to your character
06:18
they kind of go hand in hand the more like control you have so basically the way i play if i'm not that dangerous of a scenario and i'm just like walking around i'm not going to be like spam clicking carpal tunnel span clicking but yeah when i'm in an intense lane like against a syndra or when i start getting into the fight like this walking forward then i'm clicking a lot and like near my character very very close um because that's that's then i can move it like just a just a
06:49
little bit you know to the the distance to move a different angle is very small yeah yeah so yeah like you walking forward like this and clicking like once or twice that's part of the reason why you just ran oh yeah all right in this next example we're going to let the clip play and we want to see if you can spot the mechanical error in this fight [Music]
07:32
[Music] so what do you think was the big mechanical mistake here let's listen to what mcbaze had to say about it this right here is very important and like like the lowly little players they have this problem where they're not thinking ahead enough and it's kind of just like autopilot and then playing to like just like reactionary to what the enemy team does instead of just thinking about what they're gonna do so right here enemy team's chasing you down right they're like they're coming in
08:07
looking for a fight and warwick's running in first thing you should be thinking is okay warwick might alt someone um and your charm will cancel that so like when he turns like this you should be immediately ready to instantly cancel his his alt if he tries to ultilly sin and he alts him and like you're still like running away it's taking you a really long time to turn and throw this charm he got half of his alt off when it should
08:37
he should get like none of it right so i would assume you weren't thinking about this no definitely not yeah it just comes down to uh situational like awareness what what's actually happening right now enemy team's looking for a fight what's their engage leona and warwick so yeah he's just looking ahead i guess or thinking ahead okay so that's like a little mechanical error here is you your charm came up your charm was about to come up
09:12
[Music] um it was like 0.1 seconds and since it wasn't actually up yet you just threw your q instead and then you use charm that's just pointless because your charm amplifies your damage from your other abilities it's not like a high damage ability in itself so it should literally never be used in this way it should always be used to follow up with your q and w [Music] oh no oh no i'm pretty sure i survived what what is it
09:47
only in this elo can you dash into no i don't know i refuse to believe that you dashed into five people literally and i'm flabbergasted i'm mine and you got exhausted and you just danced your way around survived okay so this is another one of those things where it could seem like nama just had bad reaction time but it's not really that it's reading the situation and knowing what the enemy team will do
10:26
all right so we got some great concepts from this ari game but let's move on now to the ori game where we have even more stuff to break down just two minutes in mcbaze says that nama misses his qw combo on the kale and that little play was enough for him to know something was wrong so let's listen in once again ah okay what happened here is um do you not have indicators on range indicators uh monitoring yeah you need to turn those suckers on for for certain champs for sure like does it work with quick cars
10:57
yeah yeah you do quickcast with indicators so when you're holding down the button it shows the range and then when you release it uses it okay instead of just using it when you just press it yeah but it's really important for ori because watch what happens here i'm gonna slow it down for you so like this could look like it's mechanical but it's i mean it is mechanical but so like watch watch when you press q which is right there you used it you see how your mouse is moving away now
11:29
so you yeah you use q already and now your your character is walking into range to use it so the problem with that is by the time you get into range she's in a different spot and you see and then it misses um wait let me make sure i've been recording this god bless um so yeah on certain champs like ori you need to have that cue indicator because you want to be standing in range to move it so it moves instantly
12:00
so this concept with the ranged indicators can be important on certain champions mainly ones with abilities that work this way so think victor e or xerath w you want to be in range already when you go to use it and not buffer it like this where they will already be in a different spot anyway just a little bit after this namo got some nice trades onto the kale and is crashing a big wave onto the tower his jungler is here as well to dive and that's perfect this should surely be free let's see
12:28
what happens so how does this fit into a mechanics guide well there are different kinds of mechanics this one is just tower mechanics the problem here was nama started damaging the kale too early the tower won't start hitting him until one of them damages the kale so they can take their time get really close to kill then both of them damage her at the same time to quickly kill her but because nama went so early he had to back off too early and still die to the
13:04
tower but you should see a reoccurring theme with a lot of these concepts they aren't mechanical as most people would think and more come down to game knowledge and that's why we always say game knowledge will carry you incredibly far you don't really need good mechanics all right moving on to the next concept here when nam and kale are both level six and we're going to let mcbaze take over from here sometimes you just have to watch you have to watch uh someone better play or you just like have to learn it from someone teaching
13:34
you or guide or whatever so that's the only way to get some of the knowledge right here so your combo here needed to be you need to wait just like point three seconds more and then go in q w first your d your w did come up so you could have done it so you do qw first which slows her right and then as she's walking out slowly walking out of your ball range you alter back in right okay that makes sense and then
14:06
your q is back up to hit her with so it gives you two rotations of hitting hitting or with q your your most important ability right yeah because then you auto auto and then your cues like would already be back up and then you hit her with her q i missed you i think as well she like got out of range yeah so this was a good example of real mechanics and sadly is not something that you can really learn on your own some knowledge you can get only from watching guides or high elo gameplay
14:36
alright moving on to our last concept from this game though as nama goes for a roam to top lane and makes some very big mistakes oh okay okay this is a big one this is a big one here two big big mistakes first mistake is you throw your e on top of malachi but that doesn't do anything like maokai is one really tanky two he's like full health your shield doesn't do anything for him your e is very important for ball movement so like let's say yeah you use e on maokai right
15:07
and then you use and then you use qw on him so like what if he flashes right now flashes your all how can you move your ball to get to him right yeah you can't you'd have to like physically go walk over there and pick it up to get it so like yeah your e isn't just a shield it's very important for actually moving it so you don't want to just waste your shield for no reason and then the second big mistake here is you use your utility without you having to so your all really doesn't do that much damage right now it's utility
15:39
so you should be using qw and then just autoing him autoing him modeling him and then when he starts to run away or when he flashes on you like this then you put the ball like right next to you alt him away from you right yeah oh no and you flashed away so like this is all it's all perfect to talk about here how important it was not to use your your utilities or prevent it if i just held my own yep you just hold it because
16:09
you see there's no way of him surviving right now he can't get it there's no getting away so you just hold it and you just do your like all your damage is going to come from like queues and autos qw and auto you're all just another way to lock them down or to defend yourself so like that so that's a perfect example what i'm talking about on why it's so difficult to go over quote-unquote mechanics like that seems like bad mechanics and it is but it's more game knowledge than like actual like landing things or anything
16:41
like that yeah very similar to the charm thing we were talking about yeah so this concept of using utility when necessary isn't just for ori of course this applies to cinderstun ziggs w victor w or any ability that is more utility over damage especially in situations like that one where there was no way for the nasa to live in the first place and that's it for today's lesson let's wrap things off as we usually do with our weekly quiz question number one if there is a random skirmish occurring in the river
17:11
what way strategy would you be looking to utilize the answer is a fast push you want to crash the wave so it bounces back to your side and join the fight as quickly as possible question number two which of these two locations is the correct one for an autopilot ward if you know the enemy jungler is on the top side of the map if you did your homework and watched our warding guide this one should have been easy the answer is the one outside of the brush it covers more gank paths
17:44
especially if the enemy is a jungler who can hop over walls anyway that's going to wrap up this guide we hope you all enjoyed and we'll see you next week for the next part of this series thanks for watching you
