hi I'm David and I'm Leah and this is
wine forecaster so if you've been down
to Ithaca and maybe along the west side
of Cayuga Lake you'll see that about 10
to 15 minutes north of there there's a
series of wineries that are located
right along the lake and one of them is
fraud snack point vineyards this is a
winery that we happen to check out over
the summer and this is a bottle that we
brought back home with us this is their
2010 proprietor red so friends and I
00:35
point is owned by the doodles and
they've been farming since 1979 so
they've been around for quite a while I
in trumansburg mm-hmm the wine label
itself has their family crust on
followed by the name of the winery in
the name of the wine kind of a classy
label label and so it was a little
crooked on the bottle here which you
know I like to see things a little bit
neat and I don't know if that's really
that or that's their bottling company or
01:06
how that works it is a state grown and
bottled and what that means that they
actually bottled it right there on the
estate sometimes I don't know how they
do it but I know sometimes there's
companies that will come in and they'll
bring these chunks in and bottle it
right there for them on the estate so
they can say that it is a state grown
and a state bottle otherwise it gets may
be shipped out somewhere else and
bottled somewhere else so these are
their great too so these are their grace
right off their render yeah rather than
yourself awesome alright
01:40
like a burgundy color you cannot see
through the wine only on the fringes
it's a purple yeah
there's no alcohol content again on the
label
AIDS
you get on there
I definitely detect a whole lot of fruit
maybe a plum just maybe a prune or to
some sort of furnish component to it you
02:26
get vegetables just like a hit of like a
like a coffee grind mm-hmm I don't get
that but seems a little close for me we
had this little bit for a bit probably
15 minutes or so before this is 2013 so
you don't want to wait too long to ya to
drove this bottle to taste like soon
she ever seen grape
03:10
is that what we're tasting with us
a lot of the Finger Lakes mines have a
really sweet ass back to even if it's a
red wine but this is not sweet at all
it's almost vegetal in taste and pallid
again I get those beats on their very
strongly the beats it's a little pucker
inside a little sharpness little little
little kind of like semi-dry mm-hmm I
03:42
think this would probably open up a
little bit more with something to eat
what would you pair with us pepper steak
yeah definitely a red meat of some kind
maybe even a lamb you know done the
right way maybe with the cherry sauce or
something like that a cherry reduction
so I try this again to see if I can get
get a little bit of cherry in there I
actually timeout cherries okay you spoke
your spot on with that that's good like
04:23
a dark cherry that's not fully ripe
mm-hmm get the federal component that
definitely comes in gets lighter at the
end the finish I'm not sure what to make
of it to be honest it's it's it's
different it would be good with this
it's blue cheese mm-hmm I think that
would probably make this you know accent
it maybe make it shine through a little
bit more mm-hmm contrasted a little
certainly is interesting and it's
04:55
interesting to try some of the frames
from the Finger Lakes and some of them
you know you're familiar with it some of
them aren't and we continue to learn as
we taste more and more wines and
hopefully will encourage you to do the
same that's how you learn and that's how
you widen your palate you know so used
to always having Zinfandel cabernet
sauvignon all of a sudden you know how
comes this bottle from cayuga lake with
a lot of different grapes here and
you're not used to having those and so
05:27
you don't know how to you don't want to
thank all the time I think it said it's
a it's a it's a well-made bottle of wine
it certainly is very interesting it has
some components and characteristics to
it that you know we're not always
familiar with so that's something to
learn I think it would be interesting to
try from maybe a different winery a
similar type of blend of the more
natural grapes from New York State are
from
05:59
North America and see how this would
compare just in taste just a weave a
better palate for them instead of you
know as you mentioned Cabernet or the
more traditional European style wines
great anything else you want to add to
this bottle of 10 give it a try
frontenac point was fun to visit to on a
very small tasting room but very
intimate they they definitely like to
talk to you and educate you if you're
interested which was nice they were very
06:30
welcoming when we went to if you travel
the bottle of wine yeah let us know what
you think like to hear some feedback
from you so well great thanks for
joining us online forecaster today and
until our next bottle of wine cheers
Cheers
