Facebook Subtitles 2019

- When I was a kid, subtitles looked like this. (foreign language) But nowadays, subtitles can actually help you grow your business with video, and I'm gonna show you how to do that right now. (electronic music) Did you know that fully 85% of Facebook videos are consumed with the sound off? And that over half of Facebook content is consumed on mobile devices, your smart phones or your tablets? So, pretty much nobody is watching your videos with the sound on on Facebook. Now, a goldfish has the attention span of about nine seconds. It's worse for us. With the social media mentality we have now, we've got an attention span of about 2.7 seconds. That's how long you have to suck somebody in to your video or your content on Facebook. So to do that, especially if it's a video, you've gonna really grab their attention. There's a couple ways you can do that. Number one, you can create content that is so visually compelling, they have to keep watching, with or without the sound. The other way is to simply caption your videos so they can see, they can read, what you're saying. So if they're in a place, they're standing in line at store, waiting at the doctor's office, or doing how people mostly do on Facebook, they just watch their videos with the sound off, they'll still know what you're saying. Now, of course your content's gotta be compelling so they want to see what you're gonna say next, but you gotta caption your videos. Now, this is one way you can drastically increase engagement with your videos and grow your business. I'm gonna show you how to do it right now.

The first thing you need to note is that in order to create captions for a Facebook video, you have to have a business page

If you don't have a business page, go ahead and stop everything and create one right now.

If you have a business, you should totally have a business page

This here is my business page for my real estate business, Jones Home Collective. Another thing you should learn how to do is create video for your header, add video to your header. Now, I'm gonna go ahead and upload a video to my other business page, which is just Trevor Jones. That's the page where I teach people to use video in their businesses. I just created this page last week, so there's not a ton of content on it yet. We'll go ahead and test it by uploading here. Now, you can caption videos at the time you upload your videos, or you can do it after the fact, go back and caption videos that are, you know, a month old. Then, the interface is basically the same, although you have a few more options if you do it at the time of upload, so let's go ahead and upload a video and caption it. I'll show you how simple it is. You go to Photo/Video, click Upload Photos/Video, navigate to where your video is located, in my case, it's here. I keep it simple, I keep it in Movies, Trevor Jones Video. Let's go to TJV Finished, and I just started this YouTube channel, so I don't have a lot of videos yet, but let's go ahead and do the one on better audio on a budget. We'll just upload the trailer for that. Click open, and this is the window that pops up. This is a relatively recent redesign for Facebook for what the upload, what it looks like. It's a lot easier, a lot cleaner. Here's a title, "Better Audio On A Budget." Describe your video. This new interface also lets you choose your thumbnails.

You can go ahead and choose one of ten that are automatically generated

These all look kind of terrible, so I suggest that you create a custom image, custom thumbnail. So just click down here on Custom Image, and navigate to where your images are. Here's mine. Now, this is the image I use for my YouTube thumbnail. If I was going to run this as an ad on Facebook, I would not use this image, there's too much text, but since I'm not running this as an ad, this image is fine. What you're here for is to learn how to generate subtitles. Let's do that. You simply click on Subtitles and Captions, choose your language, and then you just click Auto-Generate. And it looks like it's going slow, but it actually goes pretty fast. Facebook will listen to you and type out an approximation of what you're saying. They'll make mistakes, but we can easily correct them and adjust the timing. Once your titles have been generated, you simply click on this little pencil right here in the Captions Added section and you'll see what Facebook has generated for you.

Click play to see what it looks like to start

- [Trevor In Video] This thing on? How does the audio sound in your videos? In this video, I'm gonna give you a fix to make the audio in your real estate videos sound vastly better. Most of these-- - [Trevor] That's actually pretty good, you could kind of leave it as is. If you speak clearly, it's pretty great, about 90%. But things are just a tiny bit off, let me just show you how to adjust this so you know how to do it. So, we will go back and click on this first block of text.

If you click on it, it'll start playing

- [Trevor In Video] This thing on? How does the audio sound in your videos? In this video-- - [Trevor] And to stop it you just click on the video. And notice that "videos" could have come a little sooner, so what you'll do is you'll click on the block of text, then click on the video so it stops playing, otherwise it keeps playing while you're trying to modify things, and you go to the end and you just slide it back a little bit, so that when I say "videos." - [Trevor In Video] How does the audio sound in your-- - [Trevor] "In your," and now we want "videos" to be there so you can physically click on this next chunk, then hit the video so it stops playing, and then you just drag it over. Now it's a little clunky, and you might have to do it a couple times. Bam! So let's go ahead and check it. - [Trevor In Video] How does the audio sound in your videos? In this video, I'm gonna give you a fix to make the audio in your real estate-- - [Trevor] And here we'll just drag this over. Click on the block of text you wanna modify, then click on the video itself so it stops, so you can actually do the modifying. Once you've done that, go through and check on the right and make sure that the spelling, punctuation, and words are all correct. And you simply go to the right and start typing to change things. They got everything pretty great, actually. And now we go through this process, and I'll speed it up for you. And when we're done I'll play it and we'll see how it looks. Okay, I went through it, I adjusted the words, I adjusted the timing, let's see if it looks right. - [Trevor In Video] This thing on? How does the audio sound in your videos? In this video, I'm gonna give you a fix to make the audio in your real estate videos sound vastly better. Most of these tips are free, and the best one is under $20. - Okay, looks pretty good to me. It's pretty accurate, and if people can see what you're saying the odds of them staying are gonna be greatly enhanced assuming they want to engage with your content.

So go ahead and mess with it, it's a little glitchy 'cause when you touch stuff, you know, stuff starts playing, just always remember to tap on the video so it stops playing so you can type and modify the timing below, then you just simply hit Save Draft, choose your default language below, in my case it's English

Next, you simply hit Publish the video, Publish Now, and bam, within a minute or so your video is gonna be up on Facebook, with subtitles so people will be able to see what you're saying. You'll get a lot more engagement that way. Let's go ahead and scroll down and see if it's shown up. Right now it's processing, just give it a second. And bam, there it is. Turn this sound off and you can see what I'm saying. It is one super inexpensive thing you can do to make your videos stand out from everybody else's because almost nobody else is captioning their videos, you wanna be the guy that is. Look here on my page, captions, captions, resume, bam, bam, bam, captions, captions, captions. Even when I'm in the shower, captions.

I suggest you go back into your Facebook feed and look at the videos you've posted over the last couple months, and caption all of them

It'll increase engagement on those, maybe add a comment so that they pop up to the top of your news feed. If you found value in today's content, and wanna keep learning how to grow your business using video, go ahead and hit the subscribe button and tap that bell below. Hey, if you ever captioned a video on Facebook or YouTube, go ahead and post it in the comments below.

I look forward to helping you in the next video
