Skincare Routine for Acne Prone & Sensitive Skin Hello, Pretties! I'll be talking about my updated skincare routine and favorite products, too My skincare routine and theory is hugely inspired by Caroline Hirons I've put some links below for Caroline's cheat sheets that I think you should read! They are very useful! You can also watch my other skincare videos Let's get started with cleansers I use different types of cleansers, and I love to try out new things But, I have a firm rule that I always stick to I never, ever use squeaky, drying cleansers It's one of the things that I keep telling all the time Your skin produces more oil when it's dry and irritated Also, its protective barrier is damaged, it's true for every skin type including oily skin Your skin becomes a perfect playground for bacteria! That's why I never use harsh, squeaky cleansers I always stick to gentle cleansers for those reasons Here are some of the products that I'm loving For my first cleanse, I use Liquorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner
01:13
It's a micellar water Sometimes, I find some micellar water drying after use But, this one doesn't dry out my skin nor irritate in any way If you prefer a micellar water, I'd really recommend this To get rid of sunscreen or makeup, Take a plenty of it with cotton pads, and gently remove your makeup You can also use this with your second cleanse, But I prefer to use a gentle, washable clenaser for my second cleanse Le'ts talk about second cleanse Like I've mentioned ahead, I use gentle cleansers for second cleanse, too I don't want anything too foamy on my face Eucerin Redness Relief Cleanser is available at iherb.com If you've been following me for a while, You must know that it is my ultimate favorite I've been keep repurchasing this again and again! It barely lathers, and very gentle on the skin I use it for my morning cleanse Also, I use it for my second cleanse
02:21
after the first cleanse is done with oil/balm/milk/micellar water... It washes out any stickiness and residue of oil/balm, yet without any tight feeling! I purchase this at iherb.com And they ship worldwide Acwell Bubble Free Cleanser It's also a non-foamy cleanser like Eucerin one It feels a bit more lighter than Eucerin So, if you're new to such type of bubble free cleansers, I think you can try this as your first non-foamy cleanser If you're used to using squeaky cleansers, this will be a good bridge to gentle ones Then, you can move onto less light ones Though I can smell the alchol in it, it didn't cause any problem to me I think somehow other ingredients compensate for it I loved it during the hot summer Like Eucerin, it can be either morning/second cleanse So, these were my latest favorite cleansers
03:38
I'm still using my homemade cleansing oil After cleansing, sometimes I need some acids like AHA/BHA. It's NOT for everyday Still my all time favorite, Derma E Overnight Peel I also keep repurchasing this at iherb.com It's like a light lotion/gel. Effective and gentle Move onto BHA, BHA Blackhead Power Liquid by Cosrx It has 4% of Betaine Salicylate, which is a Salicylic Acid substitute and is widely used in Korean skincare because of the strict law about the use of Salicylic Acid Anyway, it's as strong as 2% of traditional BHA If you have concerns about clogged pores, blackheads and acne You can try BHA Use the acids only on your night routine! Some might say that you can use it in the morning with a sunscreen, but I think it's better to use at night After acids(when needed), I'd move onto a mist Avene Eau Thermale spray is one of few things that I can rely on even when my skin is really sensitive
04:55
As it's simply spring water, it doesn't do anything dramatic on the skin, which is great when the skin is extremely sensitive I use it in the morning and evening right after cleansing or acids Andalou Naturals Toning Refresher, Blossom & Leaf It's affordable and also from iherb.com It feels like a water essence It is quite hydrating, and I love how it feels Cleanser-Acid-Facial Mist Then, I want something that quickly hydrates my skin like water essence 2sol Hyaluronic Acid Skin Booster It's one of their best selling products It has a watery gel consistency and absorbs really quickly I put a plenty of it after mist I prefer it on my night routine, as it can roll of under makeup I think it can be apt for many different skin types, as it has a lot of moist without greasy feeling Another water essence from 2sol,
06:16
Divine Bifida Ampoule Again, I use a plenty of it It's runny as water and I use it after spray hydrate Clinique Turnaround Revitalizing Lotion Unlike traditional Clinique Lotions(=toners) You don't need cotton pads Just take a plenty amount and work it into the skin Like this one I've mentioned It's a watery gel Fragrance free, decent ingrdients Packaged in a clear bottle, I'd like to store it in a box If you are acne prone and dry at the same time like I am, Rather than slapping rich creams onto the face, Use something watery like these after spray hydrate After watery essence, or in turn, I use a serum I'll show you my day time serums first
07:39
isoi Blemish Care Serum Plus It has bulgarian rose extract in it, and I can smell it It is a light gel I'm almost halfway through of the bottle I loved it during the summer After starting the hydrating process with water essence, I'd like to add even more moist with it It is neither sticky nor heavy at all Also, it doesn't roll off under makeup Acwell Super Spot Clear It's actually a spot treatment, but I use it for my entire face It has a light gel consistency So, these were my day serums Quick absorbing and hydrating ones For my evening routine, I'd go for something more active I think I've mentioned before, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop
08:53
It's loaded with vitamin C, but not irritating at all and I can really see the difference in the morning I didn't notice the change until I use it for a few days and I'm loving it more and more! Avene Clenance Expert Night is also my newest favorite for evening It's a yellow lotion and I don't need a separate moisturizer over it It really hydrates my skin and I love the texture At first, I couldn't see how it works, as it feels rather mild and bland on skin but, again, I can really feel the difference it makes It really works for my blemishes and my skin looks better in the morning It soothes and resurfaces my skin Another night time favorite! Clinique Turnaround Revitalizing Serum It's one of Clinique's super star
09:59
It has mild acids and active ingredients that are great for acne and clogged pores So, these were my evening serums I don't use them at the same time with acids (AHA/BHA) or, at least, I have to really look closely at my skin to decide if my skin can tolerate a lot of actives Move onto moisturizers I usually pick up something in tube/pumping bottle I'm not a big fan of jar packaging Of course, sometimes I can use a jarred product when I really love the formula isoi Sensitive Skin Cream Nice ingredients with nothing harsh Feels nourishing and moisturizing on the skin I use it on my dry patches during summer For the upcoming season, I'd put it on my entire face This one is much lighter than isoi cream Acwell Aquazene Effector
11:16
It's an all in one essence, actually but, I use it as a light moisturizer It feels like a very light, gel moisturizer It doesn't roll off under makeup, and I loved it during the humid summer 2sol Elixir Propolis Cream It's my current night cream The consistency isn't too thick, but leaves a shiny finish I take plenty amount of it for my entire face at night It didn't cause any blemishes for me Avene Cicalfate Cream They say it's a restorative cream, but, rather than using it as a full face cream, I'd use it for dry patches and irritated, red areas It somehow soothes skin discomfort I use different kinds of natural oils purchased at iherb It's my newest favorite. Aura Cacia Tamanu oil
12:28
It is a green oil that smells like oriental herbs You'd better finish the bottle as quickly as possible as it has no artificial preservatives Natural plant oils are loaded with antioxidants, natural moisturizing factors and vitamins... I use a couple of drops wherever needed at night Sunscreen! Luna Super Shield Sun Block in Bright Skin/Tone up Skin These are the same products except the tint Bright skin has a neutral skin tint that evens out the skin slightly If you have great skin, you don't need a foundation Just wear a tinted sunscreen with a bit of concealer and you're good to go! Tone Up Skin has a pink tint in it, which brightens up shadows on your face They are both mineral sunscreens with a matte finish It's great that these are mineral sunscreens
13:40
that can be worn under makeup However, still, chemical sunscreens are better options under foundations Move onto sheet mask and acne patches Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch It's not for new, fresh acne bumps Rather, It's for old, about-to-burst bumps that you can't get your hands off! It absorbs all the exudation and heals the wound Again, it works on old, angry acne bumps only The manufacturer is called Young Chemical who is actually making the same product for Aritaum Aritaum A.D.F Hydrocolloid Dressing is basically the same product Avene Soothing Mask is my recent favorite sheet mask Very simple ingredients, mostly consisting of Eau Thermal Spring Water
14:56
I love how they packaged the product When I need something really hydrating yet gentle, I'd reach out for this simple mask Move onto supplements It's the same from my last routine Fish oil is a must, especially when I'm inflamed Probiotic can also relieve inflammation PB8 is affordable yet effective Pure Vitamin C. I take it regularly Multiple isn't that necessary to me, but I try not to skip Whatever your skin type is, please stop destroying your skin with harsh cleansers I have so many friends and followers whose skin have changed dramatically thanks to gentle cleansers
16:19
It's the first and the most important step for better skin! Also, I love sandwiching moisture rather than stick to one single moisturizer Spray hydrate-Water essence/Serum... I hope it helps you too! Say hi on Instagram @makeupy_cats My next film will be probably about makeup! See you!
