- Hi there wig lover! This is Heather from CysterWigs.com and today I bring you a review of the Minka wig by Jon Renau in the color FS613/24B also known as Honey Syrup. Before I do anything let me go ahead and do a 360 on Minka so you can kinda see how she's laid out because I don't want you to get this one confused with Gigi because they have kind of similar model pics. (gentle electronic music) Layering on this, and make no mistake about it, this is basically like a really laid back sort of shag cut. She's got lots and lots of layering. This big open heavily deconstructed, sort of sloppy wave pattern thrown into it. Those two things coupled are really lovely, really kind of casual cool looking. And as you notice up top here. She's pretty sleek. Like the way that the front is cut, it's very long, it's very feminine. I love this little thing they've got going on the sides here
where it kind of goes in and hugs the face with the sort of S pattern. That's really beautiful. And I also love how this sort of cups the jaw in these front most layers. That's extremely flattering. Very, very flattering. This one has a ton of layering all over. She's also got a hand tied lace front. And a monofilament top, so you can part her any way you want. Note that when you shave your head like I do, that seam is a lot harder to find. (upbeat music) Right around here. But it sort of blends right into my scalp. This one's fun to play with. She's just got a ton of texture. I think this one would be a lot of fun if you took some synthetic safe hairspray or even some shaping cream and just kind of messed around with the ends a little bit with those products to kind of bring the most out of the layering and give her a little bit more of a sloppy chic vibe. But I think this one's really cool looking on. Let me go ahead and take this off now so I can show you what she looks like on the inside.
This is what Minka's cap is all about. Just like her sisters' the Gigi and the Felicity, she has a hand tied lace front. It's contoured and pre-cut. She's also got a hand tied monofilament top. You can see that seam I was referencing. Then here we've got open wefts on the side. And in the back we have an extended felt nape with velcro adjusters. We've also got a little bit of fuzzy felt here on the ear tabs with a nice bit of metal to kind of help the wig stay in place up against the sides of your head. And she is quite stretchy. I find all of these wigs to be fairly comfortable on. But as I've noted in other videos, the less hair you have under your cap, the better the wigs are gonna fit generally speaking. So if you have a lot of hair make sure you secure it. Maybe wrap it around your head if you have really long hair and that will help with grip as well. No ponytails that is really hard and it makes a bulge wherever that ponytail is. So here is what the top of this very lovely Minka looks like.
I think that the monofilament features on this one are really well done. The texture on this is really, like I said, sort of sloppy chic. To be perfectly frank, these three new Jon Renau styles are a little retro looking, I like that. But it sort of reminds me of the sort of stuff that Envy would make. Because they tend to do a lot of stuff with the kind of retro styling. So if that's a brand that you tend to gravitate towards, you may want to try some of these new Jon Renau styles. Minka by the way only weighs about 4 ounces. She's really nice and light on, especially given how long she is. This is a longer mid length cut. It's also got really nice hair density. It's not super overwhelming or anything like that. Now bear in mind I have a big frame. And even though I've lost a ton of weight, I still am just a generally big boned gal. And so you gotta kinda keep that in mind. If you're shorter than me, I'm 5'8" then this may be a little longer on you and it may look like it's a little fuller, you know. So just kind of bear that in mind. I do also like the way they steamed it
in the front of the sample piece so that way it doesn't flop in your face. If you need to know how to do that on any of your wigs by the way, make sure you watch my AMA number 3 video where we go over that in detail. The crown down is 11 inches. The sides are also 11. She's heavily layered. And the nape is 8.75. So I'm Heather. I'm from CysterWigs.com bringing you all kinds of wig reviews as well as color spotlights and all kinds of other stuff too.
