hey what's going on guys this is the Eric and this is gonna be my very first unboxing video I've been wanting to also do these for a while I guess the kind of unboxings and reviews that I'm gonna do is gonna deal mainly with the gear that I use for video production video editing and whatnot and maybe some fun toys that I like to just kind of collect there or whatever but anyway let's get started what I have here is the tangent Ripple not to be confused with the tangent nipple if you're looking for that
00:33
unboxing you might want to try review tech USA but anyway I digress what is the tangent ripple this is a a color control surface if you're doing any sort of color grading for video editing especially if you use a program like DaVinci Resolve you might have seen you know people doing color correction using these little trackball spheres type
01:02
things and this is the I guess the entry budget model that is being released and it's compatible with software packages like DaVinci Resolve I believe it's also compatible with Adobe products and probably also Final Cut X and it's retailed somewhere around $350 depending where you look and I've been wanting to get my hands on this for a while it was announced about a year ago and it's finally here I haven't opened it yet
01:33
I've been out of town and it's just been literally sitting on this table for about a week or so so I guess let's just dive in and take a look at what this thing has just a little plastic tab here that comes off real easy okay that is a very eco-friendly packaging on the outside nothing fancy it's just cardboard with black ink on it you know you don't really need packaging that's glossy and shiny and colorful
02:12
full of ink that's wasteful you know these are professional products and professionals don't really care about fancy packaging as long as the product is good so let's take out some of this stuff here this is a little booklet which I'll get to that later okay it's
02:41
got a little pouch ooh this is much lighter than I expected it to be USB cord put that other way for a second what is over here I'm assuming these are the little track balls yep they come a nice little pouch and got some weight to them that's good let's get rid of this summons this stuff over here all right
03:14
so let's open this up nice long USB cord looks like USB - you know I probably doesn't need anything higher speed than USB - I have heard however from some people online that you might want to get a powered USB hub to connect this - just to get the the proper power into this thing so it's about the right size that
03:46
I was expecting okay so obviously these don't turn oh let's get our cord properly under there and out of the way okay now it's a solid in front of me it's not moving around too much that's really good well these are nice I mean
04:19
it basically is really large trackballs but these should be high precision and these would be used for your color correction if it be your lift gammon gain or you know shadows mid-tones and highlights I would assume these would be for your level or intensity of each one in other systems a lot of times this knob right
04:50
here is generally located on the outside so you can just turn this here but I guess for cost savings they put this this this guy right here which actually with this little divot here these these turn really nicely and these will probably get a little taking use to but that's not bad that actually feels pretty good the the balls are are quite smooth and not too many buttons I'm not
05:24
sure yet if if these can be programmed to whatever you want I'll have to kind of look into resolve which I will be using this primarily with and I'm curious to see how it's gonna work I'm probably going to use this on my next few projects over the next probably two weeks and then maybe I'll come back and do a little bit more in-depth review on how it functions the pros and the cons and how the buttons feel and so forth
05:54
but you know it's it's gonna be quite the the difference from just clicking on the mouse and trying to get the the right colors you want you would use these balls for choosing the the tint of where of your color that you're going for for each of the three levels the lift gamma gain so this is a exciting I've never had my own control surface so this is this is cool I'm excited so anyway that
06:28
was my first unboxing if you liked it like kamae channel subscribe and share it and I'll be back with a review on this in about a week or two all right thanks a lot the the balls are are quite smooth
